Ion Gheorghe (born 8 October 1999) is a Romanian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Liga I club Gloria Buzău. Club career Gheorghe joined Voluntari from fellow Liga I team Dinamo București in August 2018. On 19 May 2022, he was left out of the squad to play Sepsi OSK in the Cupa României final after having previously agreed to join the opponent club upon the expiration of his contract with Voluntari. On 19 February 2024, Gheorghe joined Polish side Stal Mielec on loan for the remainder of the season, with an option to make the move permanent. He made seven appearances for the club before returning to Sepsi after the season. An ion () is an atom or molecule with a net electrical charge. The charge of an electron is considered to be negative by convention and this charge is equal and opposite to the charge of a proton, which is considered to be positive by convention. The net charge of an ion is not zero because its total number of electrons is unequal to its total number of protons. A cation is a positively charged ion with fewer electrons than protons while an anion is a negatively charged ion with more electrons than protons. Opposite electric charges are pulled towards one another by electrostatic force, so cations and anions attract each other and readily form ionic compounds. Ion Gheorghe Ionescu (born 5 April 1938) is a Romanian former Association football, football Forward (association football), striker. Club career Ion Gheorghe Ionescu, nicknamed "Puiu" was born on 5 April 1938 in Bucharest, Romania, growing up in the Cotroceni neighborhood. He made his Liga I, Divizia A debut, playing for FC Rapid București, Rapid București under coach Ion Mihăilescu on 30 October 1960 in a 2–0 loss against CS Minerul Lupeni, Minerul Lupeni. He spent 8 seasons at FC Rapid București, Rapid, making a successful couple in the team's offence with Emil Dumitriu, winning two times the top-goalscorer of Liga I, Divizia A title in the 1962–63 Divizia A, 1962–63 season with 20 goals and in 1965–66 Divizia A, 1965–66 with 24 goals.
