Invasion Of The Neptune Men
is a 1961 superhero film produced by Toei Company, Toei Company Ltd. The film stars Sonny Chiba as ''Iron Sharp'' (called ''Space Chief'' in the U.S. version). The film was released in 1961 in Japan and was later released in 1964 direct to television in the United States. In 1998, the film was featured on an episode of ''Mystery Science Theater 3000''. Plot Astronomer Shinichi Tachibana has a secret identity as superhero "Iron Sharp" and has many children as friends. When they are attacked by a group of metallic aliens ("Neptune Men" in English), Iron Sharp drives the aliens away. The resourceful Tachibana helps develop an electric barrier to block the aliens from coming to the Earth. After several losses by the aliens, they announce that they will invade the Earth, throwing the world into a state of panic. Koji Ota (director)
is a Japanese former professional baseball pitcher in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball, and belongs to Mainichi Broadcasting System, Mainichi Broadcasting System, Inc. as a commentator in baseball live on radio and TV. Ota is a son of an American father and a Japanese mother, the adopted son of a Japanese stepfather and a White Emigre, Russian stepmother, who emigrated to Japan because of the Russian Revolution of 1917, Russian Revolution in 1917. ''Mystery Science Theater 3000'' (''MST3K'') is an American television comedy series created by Joel Hodgson and produced by Best Brains, Best Brains, Inc. The show premiered on WUCW, KTMA (now WUCW) in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on November 24, 1988. Planet Prince
is a 1958 Japanese tokusatsu superhero television series created by Masaru Igami and produced by Senkosha, the series aired on NTV from November 4, 1958 to October 6, 1959, with a total of 49 episodes (comprising four separate adventures). It was created to capitalize on the success of Shintoho's Super Giant (Starman) movie series. In fact, the title hero (whose alter-ego was Waku-san, played by Toshio Mimura) bore a strong resemblance to Super Giant (known as "Starman" in the U.S.). The pair of Planet Prince theatrical featurettes, adapted from the Senkosha TV series, were produced by Toei Studios and filmed in black and white ToeiScope format. Toei produced two theatrical movies in 1959 that featured the Planet Prince character, but wearing a completely different, more streamlined costume (and goggled helmet) than the one worn in the tv series.
