The International Tennis Championships of Colombia is a defunct Grand Prix affiliated men's tennis tournament played from 1977 to 1980. It was held in Bogotá, Colombia and played on outdoor clay courts. Grand Prix Tennis Circuit
The Grand Prix tennis circuit was a professional tennis tour for male players that existed from 1970 to 1989. The Grand Prix and World Championship Tennis (WCT) were the two predecessors to the current tour for male players, the ATP Tour, with the Grand Prix being more prominent. Background Before the Open Era, popular professional tennis players, such as Suzanne Lenglen and Vincent Richards, were contracted to professional promoters. Amateur players were under the jurisdiction of their national (and international) federations. Later professional promoters, such as Bill Tilden and Jack Kramer, often convinced leading amateurs like Pancho Gonzales and Rod Laver to join their tours with promises of good prize money. Belus Prajoux Nadjar (born 27 February 1955) is a retired professional tennis player from Chile. Prajoux won six doubles titles on the ATP Tour during his career. He reached a highest doubles ranking of No. 17 in July 1982. He was a member of the Chile Davis Cup team The Chile men's national tennis team represents Chile in Davis Cup tennis tournament and is governed by Federación de tenis de Chile. Ricardo Ycaza (born 16 February 1958) is an Ecuadorian tennis player who was a world top 10 junior, a Davis Cup stalwart, and a world top 100 touring professional. Tennis career His most noteworthy achievement was winning the 1976 US Open Junior tournament. In the semi-finals of that tournament he staged a third-set comeback to defeat John McEnroe after saving two match points at 2–5 in the third set and after coming back from 2–4 in the third-set tiebreaker. (Ycaza was to face McEnroe three more times in junior tournaments, winning each time.) In the final, Ycaza defeated José Luis Clerc of Argentina. Andrés Gómez Santos (; born 27 February 1960) is an Ecuadorian former professional tennis player. He won the men's singles title at the French Open in 1990. His son, Emilio Gómez, is a professional tennis player. His nephew Nicolás Lapentti was also a professional tennis player who reached a world ranking of No. 6, and another nephew, Roberto Quiroz, is currently pursuing a career in professional tennis. Charles "Charlie" Owens (born July 31, 1950) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. Career Owens won the Orange Bowl in 1966 for the 16 and under age division. Emilio Montaño (born 18 December 1953) is a former professional tennis player from Mexico. Biography Montaño, who won the Junior Orange Bowl in 1967, was Guillermo Vilas's opponent when the Argentine won the Under-16s Orange Bowl title in 1968. He attended Rice University in the early 1970s and played for a highly ranked collegiate tennis team which included Harold Solomon. Following college, Montaño competed professionally on the Grand Prix and WCT circuits. His best singles performances at Grand Prix tournaments were quarter-final appearances at Hong Kong in 1976 and South Orange in 1979. Jaime Fillol
Jaime José Fillol Durán (born 3 June 1946), known professionally as Jaime Fillol Sr., is a retired professional tennis player from Chile, who played in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. Fillol was ranked as high as world No. 14 in singles on the ATP rankings (achieving that ranking on 2 March 1974) and No. 82 in doubles (2 January 1984). In the Open era (after 1968), Fillol won 6 singles titles and 16 doubles titles. In addition he was a founding member and one of the first ATP Presidents.
