International Festival Of Animated Objects
The International Festival of Animated Objects is a biennial festival sponsored by the non-profit group '' Calgary Animated Objects Society'' that promotes the arts of puppetry, mask, and animated objects. It takes place in downtown Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The IFAO features high calibre local, national, and international artists working in the realm of animated objects. Programming includes live performances, screenings, lectures, workshops, and exhibitions for all ages, and adult audiences, including the ever-popular late night "Dolly Wiggler Cabaret" and "Opening Night Galabash". Calgary Animated Objects Society
Calgary Animated Objects Society (CAOS) is a non-profit charitable arts organization based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Founded in 2003, CAOS is dedicated to the arts of mask, puppetry and animated objects, and to building community through different art. CAOS's major projects include the biennial International Festival of Animated Objects, and "Spirit of White Buffalo": a large-scale animated puppet and arts residency. A puppet is an object, often resembling a human, animal or Legendary creature, mythical figure, that is animated or manipulated by a person called a puppeteer. The puppeteer uses movements of their hands, arms, or control devices such as rods or strings to move the body, head, limbs, and in some cases the mouth and eyes of the puppet. The puppeteer often speaks in the voice of the character of the puppet, and then synchronizes the movements of the puppet's mouth with this spoken part. Withoutabox was a website founded in January 2000 by David Straus, Joe Neulight and Charles Neulight which allowed independent filmmakers to self-distribute their films. The first product launched was the International Film Festival Submission system. Withoutabox worked with film festivals and filmmakers all over the world. In January 2008, Withoutabox was acquired by IMDb, a subsidiary of Amazon. The Withoutabox website offered filmmakers a platform to search over 3000 film festivals on five continents and to submit their films to over 850 film festivals worldwide, including festivals such as Sundance and the Toronto International Film Festival. Frank Meschkuleit
Frank Meschkuleit (born 1962) is a Canadian voice actor, puppeteer and comedian known for his role as Toopy on the Canadian television series '' Toopy and Binoo''. Meschkuleit began his performing career as a mime, and broke into puppeteering with an audition for the 1979 film ''The Muppet Movie'' and parts in ''Don't Eat the Neighbours'' and '' Dragon''. He was also the suit performer for Junior Gorg in the fifth and final season of ''Fraggle Rock''. Meschkuleit performed a live comedy show called ''The Left Hand of Frank'', which was a hit at the Edmonton International Fringe Festival in 1994. Ronnie Burkett
Ronnie Burkett, OC is a Canadian puppeteer, best known for his original theatrical plays for adults, performed with marionettes. Burkett, who hails from Medicine Hat, was the puppeteer for Ralph on the TV Ontario series '' Harriet's Magic Hats'' during seasons three and four. He was also credited on two TV shows; Chicken Minute and Little Star. Career After winning a regional Emmy Award in 1979 for the puppets in "Cinderrabbit" on PBS in the US, Burkett formed his own theatre company in Alberta in 1986.
