Interactive Awards
The Interactive Awards are awarded to artists, bands and music organizations that use the internet in an inventive way to market (their) music. Since 2008 the Interactive Awards are presented on an annual basis during The European Music Conference and Showcase Festival Eurosonic Noorderslag in the Dutch city of Groningen. The award aims to encourage European talent and highlight artists and bands that inspire others in an interactive field. Two awards are presented at the Interactive Awards, namely the Company Award and the Artist Award. The Artist Award aims to highlight artists or bands with special online initiatives. Groningen (; gos, Grunn or ) is the capital city and main municipality of Groningen province in the Netherlands. BUMA/STEMRA are two private organisations in the Netherlands, the Buma Association (Dutch: ''Vereniging Buma'') and the Stemra Foundation (Dutch: ''Stichting Stemra'') that operate as one single company that acts as the Dutch collecting society for composers and music publishers. History The Buma Association was set up by Dutch music authors and publishers in 1913, one year after the Dutch Copyright Act was passed. Sellaband
Sellaband was a music website that allowed artists to raise the money from their fans and the SellaBand community in order to record a professional album. Sellaband used the mechanisms of crowdfunding and was to be seen as a Direct-to-Fan/fan-funded music platform utilising a Threshold Pledge System / Provision Point Mechanism. It was set up by Johan Vosmeijer (ex Sony/BMG), Pim Betist (ex Shell), and Dagmar Heijmans (ex Sony/BMG) in August 2006. Its offices used to be located in Amsterdam, Netherlands, but it was originally incorporated in Bocholt, Germany. On April 8, 2008, Sellaband raised EU€3.5 million (US$5 million) in their Series A round led by Prime Technology Ventures. In early 2009, Pim Betist left Sellaband to set up Africa Unsigned, using Sellaband technology as a base and supported by the Dutch government. In January 2010, Sellaband filed for Bankruptcy.
