Institute For International Economic Studies
The Institute for International Economic Studies (IIES) is a Swedish research institute at Stockholm University, founded in the early 1960s. The main objective is to produce outstanding research for publication in leading international journals. The faculty at IIES consists of 18 full time researchers and publishes on around 4 papers in the top five economics journals each year. Scholars from the IIES have received a number of international awards, such as the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences and the Yrjö Jahnsson Award. Among many other honors, two IIES scholars have been elected Presidents of the European Economic Association, one elected President of the Econometric Society, three elected Foreign Honorary Members of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and six elected members of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. Per Krusell
Per Lennart Krusell, born 1959, is a Swedish people, Swedish macroeconomic theorist who is currently the Torsten and Ragnar Soderberg Chair in Economics and the Institute for International Economic Studies, Stockholm University, as well as Centennial Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics. Until recently, he was a professor of economics at Princeton University and, before that, held positions at the University of Rochester, the University of Pennsylvania, and Northwestern University. Carl Assar Eugén Lindbeck (26 January 1930 – 28 August 2020) was a Swedish professor of economics at Stockholm University and at the Research Institute of Industrial Economics (IFN). Lindbeck was a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters, and previously chaired the Academy's prize committee for the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. He was the first Swede to be appointed a foreign Honorary Member of the American Economic Association, and one of only three Swedes ever. The Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, officially the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel ( sv, Sveriges riksbanks pris i ekonomisk vetenskap till Alfred Nobels minne), is an economics award administered by the Nobel Foundation. Although not one of the five Nobel Prizes which were established by Alfred Nobel's will in 1895, it is commonly referred to as the Nobel Prize in Economics. Lars Calmfors
Lars Calmfors (born 12 July 1948 in Stockholm) is a Swedish economist and professor of international economics at the Institute for International Economic Studies at Stockholm University. He received his Ph.D. from the Stockholm School of Economics in 1978. He headed the official Swedish Government Commission on the Economic and Monetary Union of the European Union, EMU, which in 1996 recommended to wait with introducing the euro. In 2003 when Sweden held a referendum on whether to join the EMU, Calmfors advocated in favor of joining. Calmfors has been a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences since 1993, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences since 1995, and a chairman of the Committee for the Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel 1996–1998 and 2003–2007.
