The ICGenHer or Catalan Institute of Genealogy and Heraldry is a research institution and publishing house specialized in genealogy, heraldry, nobility, family and genealogical documentation and palaeography Palaeography (American and British English spelling differences#ae and oe, UK) or paleography (American and British English spelling differences#ae and oe, US; ultimately from grc-gre, , ''palaiós'', "old", and , ''gráphein'', "to write") ... . It also organizes courses on these topics. It was founded on October 24, 2007 by the current president, Armand de Fluvià i Escorsa . Publishes the magazine ''Armoria'' . Armand De Fluvià
Armand de Fluvià i Escorsa (born 1931),Casas, Sònia "Armand de Fluvià "El rei Joan Carles I és descendent directe de Guifré el Pilós"". Sàpiens Review. Grup Cultura 03, 112, January 2012, 26–27. is a Catalan genealogist and heraldist. He specializes in Catalan genealogies and in the dynasties of the counts of the Catalan Countries. He has also been a pioneer of the gay rights movement since the last years of the Francoist dictatorship. He was one of the founders of ''Nacionalistes d'Esquerra'' (Leftist Nationalists). Early life Armand de Fluvià i Escorsa was born in Barcelona, Spain, the son of Armand de Fluvià i Vendrell. In 1959, he graduated with a law degree from the University of Barcelona. Genealogy () is the study of families, family history, and the tracing of their lineages. Heraldry
Heraldry is a discipline relating to the design, display and study of armorial bearings (known as armory), as well as related disciplines, such as vexillology, together with the study of ceremony, rank and pedigree. Armory, the best-known branch of heraldry, concerns the design and transmission of the heraldic achievement. Paleography
Palaeography ( UK) or paleography ( US; ultimately from grc-gre, , ''palaiós'', "old", and , ''gráphein'', "to write") is the study of historic writing systems and the deciphering and dating of historical manuscripts, including the analysis of historic handwriting. It is concerned with the forms and processes of writing; not the textual content of documents. Included in the discipline is the practice of deciphering, reading, and dating manuscripts, and the cultural context of writing, including the methods with which writing and books were produced, and the history of scriptoria. Jordi Mestres I López
Jordi Mestres i López (born 1967, Girona) is a Catalan chemical researcher who works in the field of research for molecules of pharmacological interest. He is also an active researcher as a genealogist. Early life Jordi Mestres was a student at Escolania de Montserrat (1977–1981). In 1990 he obtained a degree in chemistry from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and in 1995 a doctorate in chemistry (computational chemistry) from the University of Girona (UdG), with short research stays at the Université de Paris-Sud (1992), Rice University (1993) and the pharmaceutical company Upjohn Co. ( Kalamazoo, United States ; 1995).
