''Inside Out'' is a 1967 album by Bobby Darin. This album found Darin continuing to explore the folk genre, as he had on his previous release, ''If I Were a Carpenter''. Like its predecessor, ''Inside Out'' contains songs by Tim Hardin and John Sebastian, as well as Randy Newman and The Rolling Stones. Bobby Darin
Bobby Darin (born Walden Robert Cassotto; May 14, 1936 – December 20, 1973) was an American musician and actor. He performed jazz, Pop music, pop, rock and roll, Folk music, folk, Swing music, swing, and country music. He started his career as a songwriter for Connie Francis. He recorded his first million-selling single, "Splish Splash (song), Splish Splash", in 1958. That was followed by "Dream Lover", "Mack the Knife#Popular song, Mack the Knife", and "Beyond the Sea (song), Beyond the Sea", which brought him worldwide fame. Richie Unterberger
Richie Unterberger (born January 19, 1962) is an American author and journalist whose focus is popular music and travel writing. Life and writing Unterberger attended the University of Pennsylvania, where he wrote for the university newspaper ''The Daily Pennsylvanian'' and in the early 1980s was a deejay on the Penn radio station, WXPN-FM. Just prior to graduating in late 1982, he started reviewing records for '' Op'' magazine, which marked the start of his career as a freelance writer. From 1985 to 1991, Unterberger was an editor for '' Option''. "Back Street Girl" is a song by the English rock band the Rolling Stones written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. It first appeared on the UK version of their 1967 album ''Between the Buttons'' but was not included on the US version. It was first released in the US on the 1967 album ''Flowers''. ''Rolling Stone'' magazine, in their 100 Greatest Rolling Stones Songs article named "Back Street Girl" at number 85. Mick Jagger in an interview with ''Rolling Stone'' in 1968 was asked how he felt about ''Between the Buttons''. Of the album, he said: "I don't know, it just isn't any good. "I Think It's Going to Rain Today" (or "I Think It's Gonna Rain Today") is a song by American singer-songwriter Randy Newman. It appears on Julius La Rosa's 1966 album ''You're Gonna Hear from Me'', Eric Burdon's 1967 album ''Eric Is Here'', on Newman's 1968 debut album '' Randy Newman'', in ''The Randy Newman Songbook Vol. 1'' (2003), and in Newman's official and bootleg live albums. It is one of his most covered songs. Background Newman told ''Rolling Stone'' that he wrote the song around 1963 or 1964. He went on to say that the "music is emotional – even beautiful – and the lyrics are not." Newman also said that the song bothered him due to the darkness and that the song felt "sophomoric" and "too maudlin". Alan Lee Gordon (April 22, 1944 – November 22, 2008) was an American songwriter best known for songs recorded by the Turtles, Petula Clark, and Barbra Streisand. Many of his songs were co-written with Gary Bonner, including the Turtles' " Happy Together" and Three Dog Night's " Celebrate". He worked with various popular musicians, including Blues Magoos, Alice Cooper, the Archies, the O'Jays, Lynn Anderson, Flo & Eddie, Frank Zappa, Helen Reddy, Gary Lewis & the Playboys, Tammy Wynette, the Lovin' Spoonful, Bobby Darin, and Freddy Fender. Career Gordon was born in Natick, Massachusetts. In 1965, he and Garry Bonner formed the Magicians, a group which would also include Allan "Jake" Jacobs and John Townley. "Darlin' Be Home Soon" (or "Darling Be Home Soon") is a song written by John Sebastian of the Lovin' Spoonful for the soundtrack of the 1966 Francis Ford Coppola film ''You're a Big Boy Now''. It appeared on the Lovin' Spoonful's 1967 soundtrack album ''You're a Big Boy Now''. Sebastian performed his composition at Woodstock; it was the fourth song out of the five he performed at the 1969 music festival in White Lake, New York. Writing and recording Coppola commissioned Sebastian to write music for the film, and for one scene wanted a song with a similar mood and tempo to "Monday, Monday" by the Mamas and the Papas.
