Input (computer Science)
{{Short description, Data provided to a program or process In computer science, the general meaning of input is to provide or give something to the computer, in other words, when a computer or device is receiving a command or signal from outer sources, the event is referred to as input to the device. Some computer devices can also be categorized as input devices because we use these devices to send instructions to the computer, some common examples of computer input devices are: * Mouse * Keyboard * Touchscreen * Microphone * Webcam * Softcam * Touchpad * Trackpad * Image scanner * Trackball Also some internal components of computer are input components to other components, like the power-on button of a computer is input component for the processor or the power supply, because it takes user input and sends it to other components for further processing. In many computer languages the keyword "input" is used as a special keyword or function, such as in Visual Basic or Python. ... Information
Information is an abstract concept that refers to that which has the power to inform. At the most fundamental level information pertains to the interpretation of that which may be sensed. Any natural process that is not completely random, and any observable pattern in any medium can be said to convey some amount of information. Whereas digital signals and other data use discrete signs to convey information, other phenomena and artifacts such as analog signals, poems, pictures, music or other sounds, and currents convey information in a more continuous form. Information is not knowledge itself, but the meaning that may be derived from a representation through interpretation. Information is often processed iteratively: Data available at one step are processed into information to be interpreted and processed at the next step. For example, in written text each symbol or letter conveys information relevant to the word it is part of, each word conveys information rele ... Input Device
In computing, an input device is a piece of equipment used to provide data and control signals to an information processing system, such as a computer or information appliance. Examples of input devices include keyboards, mouse, scanners, cameras, joysticks, and microphones. Input devices can be categorized based on: * modality of input (e.g., mechanical motion, audio, visual, etc.) * whether the input is discrete (e.g., pressing of key) or continuous (e.g., a mouse's position, though digitized into a discrete quantity, is fast enough to be considered continuous) * the number of degrees of freedom involved (e.g., two-dimensional traditional mice, or three-dimensional navigators designed for CAD applications) Keyboard A keyboard is a human interface device which is represented as a layout of buttons. Each button, or key, can be used to either input an alphanumeric character to a computer, or to call upon a particular function of the computer. It acts as the main text ent ... Input Method
An input method (or input method editor, commonly abbreviated IME) is an operating system component or program that enables users to generate characters not natively available on their input devices by using sequences of characters (or mouse operations) that are natively available on their input devices. Using an input method is usually necessary for languages that have more graphemes than there are keys on the keyboard. For instance, on the computer, this allows the user of Latin keyboards to input Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Indic characters. On hand-held devices, it enables the user to type on the numeric keypad to enter Latin alphabet characters (or any other alphabet characters) or touch a screen display to input text. On some operating systems, an input method is also used to define the behaviour of the dead keys. Implementations Although originally coined for CJK (Chinese, Japanese and Korean) computing, the term is now sometimes used generically to refer to ... Input/output
In computing, input/output (I/O, or informally io or IO) is the communication between an information processing system, such as a computer, and the outside world, possibly a human or another information processing system. Inputs are the signals or data received by the system and outputs are the signals or data sent from it. The term can also be used as part of an action; to "perform I/O" is to perform an input or output operation. are the pieces of hardware used by a human (or other system) to communicate with a computer. For instance, a keyboard or computer mouse is an input device for a computer, while monitors and printers are output devices. Devices for communication between computers, such as modems and network cards, typically perform both input and output operations. Any interaction with the system by a interactor is an input and the reaction the system responds is called the output. The designation of a device as either input or output depends on perspective. International Public Television Screening Conference
International Public Television Screening Conference (INPUT) is an international public television organization dedicated to television as public service and in the public interest. INPUT is dedicated to promoting access to the most honest, innovative, provocative, courageous, and challenging broadcasting as a universal fundamental human right. History Since 1977, INPUT annually holds an important and influential international television screening conference. Held in a different country each year, the conference encourages the development of public service television by screening and debating the most outstanding programs from around the world. INPUT also organizes many other activities throughout the year in dozens of countries. In doing so, it provides a unique professional development opportunity for producers, directors, writers and all those — including independent producers — who contribute to public television throughout the world. Previously, Goldberg co-founded the website Bleacher Report with a single million-dollar investment. He claimed that "women in their 20s have nothing to read on the Internet." ''Bustle'' was launched with $6.5 million in backing from Seed and Series A funding rounds. It surpassed 10 million monthly unique visitors in July 2014, placing it ahead of rival women-oriented sites such as ''Refinery29'', ''Rookie'' and ''xoJane''; it had the second greatest number of unique visitors after Gawker's ''Jezebel''. Independent Variable
Dependent and independent variables are variables in mathematical modeling, statistical modeling and experimental sciences. Dependent variables receive this name because, in an experiment, their values are studied under the supposition or demand that they depend, by some law or rule (e.g., by a mathematical function), on the values of other variables. Independent variables, in turn, are not seen as depending on any other variable in the scope of the experiment in question. In this sense, some common independent variables are time, space, density, mass, fluid flow rate, and previous values of some observed value of interest (e.g. human population size) to predict future values (the dependent variable). Of the two, it is always the dependent variable whose variation is being studied, by altering inputs, also known as regressors in a statistical context. In an experiment, any variable that can be attributed a value without attributing a value to any other variable is called an ...
