National Paralympic Committee Of Indonesia
National Paralympic Committee of Indonesia is the body responsible for selecting athletes to represent Indonesia at the Paralympic Games and other international athletic meets and for managing the Indonesian teams at the events. It was created on 31 October 1962 as the Disabled Sports Founder Foundation ( id, Yayasan Pembina Olahraga Cacat; abbreviated YPOC) before changing the name during its 7th National Sports Conference on 31 October and 1 November 1993 to Disabled Sports Founder Agency ( id, Badan Pembina Olahraga Cacat; abbreviated BPOC). This name was changed to its current on 26 July 2010. Since 1992, NPC Indonesia be a part of the National Sports Committee of Indonesia until split off as independent organization in 2015. Ashʿarī theology or Ashʿarism (; ar, الأشعرية: ) is one of the main Sunnī schools of Islamic theology, founded by the Muslim scholar, Shāfiʿī jurist, reformer, and scholastic theologian Abū al-Ḥasan al-Ashʿarī in the 9th–10th century. Indonesia first participated at the Olympic Games in 1952 and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games since then, except for 1964, due to controversy around the Games of the New Emerging Forces, and 1980, when they participated in the U.S.-led boycott of the 1980 Summer Olympics. Indonesia is yet to participate in the Winter Olympic Games. The National Olympic Committee for Indonesia was created in 1946 and recognized in 1952. As of 2020, Indonesian athletes have won a total of 37 medals, twenty-one in badminton, fifteen in weightlifting and one in archery. Among countries in Southeast Asia, Indonesia ranks first in terms of the number of overall medals (37), and second in the number of gold medals (8), only behind Thailand which has 10 gold medals. Indonesia made its Paralympic Games debut at the 1976 Summer Paralympics in Toronto, with competitors in athletics, lawn bowls, swimming and table tennis. The country has participated in every subsequent edition of the Summer Paralympics, except 1992, but has never taken part in the Winter Paralympics. As of 2020 edition, Indonesians have won a total of twenty-seven Paralympic medals: six gold, seven silver and fourteen bronze. The country's first two gold medals were won in 1976, by Itria Dini in the men's precision javelin (category F), and by Syarifuddin in the men's singles in lawn bowls (category E).
