The Indiana Mr. Basketball honor recognizes the top high school basketball player in the state of Indiana. The award is presented annually by ''The Indianapolis Star''. The first Indiana Mr. Basketball was George Crowe of Franklin High School in 1939. Bobby Gene Plump (born September 9, 1936) is a member of the Milan High School basketball team, who won the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) state tournament in 1954. Plump was selected Indiana's coveted "Mr. Basketball" in 1954, the award bestowed upon Indiana's most outstanding senior basketball player as voted on by the press. Plump was also named one of the most noteworthy Hoosiers of the 20th century by ''Indianapolis Monthly Magazine''. He was also one of the 50 greatest sports figures from Indiana in the 20th century, according to ''Sports Illustrated''. Crispus Attucks High School (also known as Crispus Attucks Medical Magnet High School) is a high school of the Indianapolis Public Schools in Indianapolis, in the U.S. state of Indiana. It is named for Crispus Attucks (c.1723 – March 5, 1770), an African American patriot killed during what became known as the Boston Massacre. The 1956 NBA draft was the tenth annual draft of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The draft was held on April 30, 1956, before the 1956–57 season. Arsenal Technical High School, commonly referred to as Tech or Arsenal Tech, is a public high school in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States, which is run by the Indianapolis Public Schools district. Joe Sexson
Joe Sexson (March 29, 1934 – April 30, 2011) was an American college basketball coach. He was the men's head coach at Butler Bulldogs, Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana, from 1978 to 1989. He was the head baseball coach at Purdue Boilermakers, Purdue University from 1960 to 1977 and an assistant basketball coach at Purdue. Sexson was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis where he was a star athlete and the 1952 Indiana Mr. Basketball. He was also awarded the Arthur L. Trester Award for Mental Attitude, after leading Arsenal Tech to a Runner-Up finish in the state basketball tournament. The Colorado Buffaloes men's basketball team represents the University of Colorado Boulder. The team competes in the Pac-12 Conference of NCAA Division I. They are currently coached by Tad Boyle. Muncie Central High School (MCHS) in Muncie, Indiana is a public high school. As of the 2013–14 school year, it had 913 students. Marion High School is a high school in Marion, Indiana with more than 1,000 students. History Marion High School's first campus opened in September 1891. Unfortunately, in 1902 the building burned to the ground. The next building stood only for six years, but it was burned down again in 1908 by a possible arson attack. The second campus opened in 1910 on West Nelson Street where it would remain open until 1975.
