Indian Cricket Team In Zimbabwe In 1992–93
The Indian cricket team toured Zimbabwe between 15 and 25 October 1992. The series was played as a prelude for India's tour of South Africa, and included just one Test match and one One Day International (ODI). The tour began with a 50-over warm-up match, which the touring Indians won by 16 runs over the "Zimbabwe Cricket Union President's XI". ''Wisden Cricketers' Almanack'' criticised the "lifeless pitch" in the Test match, saying "both owlingattacks were rendered innocuous". Zimbabwe's captain, David Houghton top-scored for his side in their first innings, scoring the country's maiden Test century of 121. Zimbabwe established a 149-run first innings lead, but the match ended as a draw. Mohammad Azharuddin
Mohammad Azharuddin (born 8 February 1963) is an Indian politician and a former international cricketer and former captain of India national cricket team. He is the working president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee and was the Member of Parliament (India), member of parliament for Moradabad (Lok Sabha Constituency), Moradabad. He played 99 Test cricket, Test matches and 334 One Day Internationals for the Indian national cricket team before his international career came to an end after he was found to have been involved in a South Africa cricket match fixing, match fixing scandal in 2000 and subsequently banned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India for life. Dickie Bird
Harold Dennis "Dickie" Bird, (born 19 April 1933), is an English retired international cricket umpire. During his long umpiring career, he became a much-loved figure among players and viewing public, due to his excellence as an umpire, but also his many eccentricities. Bird played first-class cricket for Yorkshire and Leicestershire as a right-handed batsman, but only scored two centuries in 93 appearances. His career was blighted by a knee injury, which eventually caused him to retire aged 31. Harare Sports Club is a sports club and the Harare Sports Club Ground is a cricket stadium in Harare, Zimbabwe. Founded in 1900 and known as Salisbury Sports Club until 1982, it is mostly used for cricket matches, and has served as the primary cricket venue in Rhodesia and Zimbabwe since its foundation. Kapil Dev Ramlal Nikhanj (Pronunciation: əpiːl deːʋ born 6 January 1959) is an Indian former cricketer. He was a fast-medium bowler and a hard-hitting middle-order batsman, and was named by ''Wisden'' as the Indian Cricketer of the Century in 2002. Dev captained the Indian cricket team that won the 1983 Cricket World Cup, and in the process became the first Indian captain to win the Cricket World Cup, and is still the youngest captain (at the age of 24) to win the World Cup for any team. Andrew John Pycroft (born 6 June 1956) is a former Zimbabwean cricketer who played in 3 Test matches and 20 One Day Internationals from 1983 to 1992. Domestic career He played for Rhodesia prior to Zimbabwe's independence. He also represented the Zimbabwean team (1980 onwards) and the Western Province in the South African domestic competition. Pravin Kalyan Amre (; born 14 August 1968) is an Indian cricketer who represented the Indian cricket team between 1991 and 1999. He played 11 Test matches and 37 One Day Internationals (ODIs). Domestic career At the domestic level, Amre played for various teams such as Mumbai, Railways, Rajasthan and Bengal, while also playing in South Africa for Boland. Russell Blair Tiffin (born 4 June 1959) is a Zimbabwean cricket umpire and former cricketer. He was a member of the ICC International umpire panel from 1995 to 2018 when he retired. Early life Tiffin was born in Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia (now Harare, Zimbabwe). His family were farmers in the Tengwe area in the north of the country. Tiffin was educated at Banket Primary School and Prince Edward High School in Harare, where he became a wicketkeeper-batsman. Harare (; formerly Salisbury ) is the capital and most populous city of Zimbabwe. The Old Georgians Sports Club is a sports club Harare. Its facilities include a cricket ground. The cricket ground played host to one first-class cricket match in October 1992, when Zimbabwe B played the touring New Zealanders, which saw the New Zealanders Dipak Patel (5 for 54) and Simon Doull (6 for 37) taking five wicket hauls, and Mark Greatbatch scoring a century. In the same month the ground hosted its first List A one-day match when the Zimbabwe Cricket Union President's XI played the touring Indians, who were touring Zimbabwe to take part in the Zimbabwe's first Test series. The ground later held two one-day matches in the 2000 ICC Emerging Nations Tournament, with the Netherlands playing Ireland and Kenya, though the match against Ireland was called off due to a poor outfield and uneven pitch.
