Indian Summer (American Band)
Indian Summer was an American emo and post-hardcore band originally from Oakland, California. The band released a full 7-inch on Repercussion Records, and split 7 inches with Current, Embassy and Ordination of Aaron. They also released a song on the ''Eucalyptus'' compilation (2×7″) on Tree Records, a song on the ''Food Not Bombs'' compilation LP on Inchworm Records, and a song on the ''Ghost Dance'' compilation (2×7″) on Slave Cut Records. ''Science 1994'' was released in 2002 and ''Hidden Arithmetic'', an entirely live album consisting of one live set and a live radio broadcast, was released in 2006, both on the Future Recordings label. '' AllMusic'' described them as "one of the more exciting and influential bands in a crop of underground acts that defined an obscure but inspired era of American emo." Swing Kids (band)
Swing Kids were a post-hardcore band from San Diego, California, during the mid-1990s. They were closely involved with and influenced by the forerunners of the San Diego hardcore punk scene of the 1990s. History Swing Kids formed in the mid 1990s, inspired by jazz and swing era ethics. The band was short lived, documenting their entire existence in a handful of songs over a couple of years. Swing Kids released a self-titled 7" EP which features four original tracks as well as a harsh version of Joy Division’s "Warsaw". From that EP, the song "Blue Note" was listed by Vulture.com as number 83 of the 100 greatest emo songs. Soon after the band released their EP they followed up with a split 10" EP with Spanakorzo, which shared band member John Brady. Emo is a rock music genre characterized by emotional, often confessional lyrics. It emerged as a style of and hardcore punk from the Washington D.C. hardcore punk scene, where it was known as emotional hardcore or emocore and pioneered by bands such as Rites of Spring and Embrace. Braid (band)
Braid is an American emo band from Champaign, Illinois, formed in 1993. Following several early line-up changes, the band eventually settled on Bob Nanna on guitar and vocals, Todd Bell on bass, Chris Broach on guitar and vocals, and Roy Ewing on drums until he was replaced in 1997 by new drummer Damon Atkinson. In 1998 the group released their third album, ''Frame & Canvas'', to critical acclaim and is considered a staple of the late 1990s emo movement. Despite ''Frame & Canvass success, Braid disbanded in 1999. Nanna, Bell, and Atkinson formed the more melodic Hey Mercedes, while Broach would dedicate more time to The Firebird Band which was previously a side project. Cap'n Jazz (sometimes stylised as caP'n Jazz) was an American emo band formed in Chicago in 1989 by brothers Tim and Mike Kinsella, who were joined by Sam Zurick and Victor Villarreal. After a number of name changes and the addition of guitarist Davey von Bohlen, the band began to earn a cult following in the Chicago area and the Midwest. History Cap'n Jazz recorded several singles for independent labels in the early 90s as well as contributing to several compilations. Starkweather (band)
Starkweather is an American metal band from Philadelphia, formed in 1989. They have a complex experimental metal sound often including use of dissonance, intricate tempo changes and avant-garde sensibilities. Starkweather helped pioneer the hardcore punk/ heavy metal crossover sound that would later be known as "metalcore", as well as being a major influence on the mathcore subgenre.
