India Davis Cup Team
The India men's national tennis team represents India in Davis Cup tennis competition and are governed by the All India Tennis Association. History India competed in its first Davis Cup in 1921 but has yet to win the Cup. India finished as runners-up 3 times (1966, 1974, 1987), the most by any nation from Asia proper. In 1974, the final was scratched and South Africa were awarded the Davis Cup after India refused to participate in the final due to the South African government's apartheid policies. Mahesh Bhupathi
Mahesh Shrinivas Bhupathi (born 7 June 1974) is an Indian former doubles world No. 1 tennis player. In 1997, he became the first Indian to win a major tournament (with Rika Hiraki). With his win at the 2006 Australian Open mixed doubles, he joined the elite group of eight tennis players who have achieved a career Grand Slam in mixed doubles. He is also the founder of International Premier Tennis League. In December 2016, Bhupathi was appointed as India's next non-playing Davis Cup captain and took over the reins from Anand Amritraj in February 2017. Hassan Ali Fyzee
Hassan-Ali Fyzee (9 October 1879 – 1 January 1962) was an Indian tennis, badminton, and table tennis player. Table tennis Hassan-Ali Fyzee took part in the first 1926 World Table Tennis Championships in London. Here he won the bronze medal with the Indian men's team, in which also his brother Athar-Ali Fyzee, active in the Davis Cup, played. In 1926, he was president of the Table Tennis Federation of India. At the end of 1926, he took over organizational tasks in the newly founded International Table Tennis Federation as an assessor. Tennis Fayzee's career singles match record was 223-116 (65.7%). Somdev Devvarman
Somdev Kishore Devvarman (born 13 February 1985) is a former professional Indian tennis player. He hit the headlines for being the only collegiate player to have made three consecutive finals at the NCAA, winning back-to-back finals in his junior and senior years at the University of Virginia. Only three other players have matched that record since 1950. His 44–1 win–loss record in 2008 at the NCAA Men's Tennis Championship is unprecedented. His best achievement on the ATP World Tour was reaching the final of the Chennai Open in 2009, as a wild card entry. Rohit Rajpal
Rohit Rajpal (born 22 January 1971) is an Indian former professional tennis player. Rajpal played in one Davis Cup tie for India, against South Korea in 1990. He got his opportunity in a dead rubber reverse singles match, which he lost to Kim Jae-sik. In addition to his Davis Cup appearance, Rajpal was also a member of India's squad at the 1990 Asian Games in Beijing. In 2019, he replaced Mahesh Bhupathi as India's Davis Cup captain. Rohan Bopanna ( ; born 4 March 1980) is an Indian professional tennis player. His tennis singles, singles career-high ranking was world No. 213 in 2007 and his career-high ranking in doubles was world No. 3 on 22 July 2013.
