India (Xandria Album)
''India'' is the third studio album by German symphonic metal band Xandria. It was released on August 22, 2005 via Drakkar Entertainment label. The album also released one single, "In Love with the Darkness". In comparison with its predecessor ''Ravenheart'', the album presents a larger variety of musical ideas and a more powerful and dynamic sound, a clear progression for the band. The album features the Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg and several guest musicians: the Irish folk band Sceal Eile, musicians and the female singer of the band Lyriel and the Australian Grant Stevens. The producer José Alvarez-Brill is the same of ''Ravenheart''. The recordings took place with some interruptions used for further song writing and arranging from December 2004 to June 2005. Xandria
Xandria is a German symphonic metal band founded by Marco Heubaum in 1994. Originally a project, Heubaum later restarted the project as a band in 1999, and has gone through various lineup changes. The German vocalist Lisa Middelhauve joined for the debut album, co-writing both music and lyrics for the band until her departure in 2008. Middelhauve reunited briefly with the band in 2010 following the departure of the band's second vocalist Kerstin Bischof, but left again shortly after. Manuela Kraller joined the band as the new vocalist in 2010. The band released ''Neverworld's End'' in 2012, which was the only album to feature Kraller as she would depart in 2013. Dianne van Giersbergen was later announced as her replacement, and would record two studio albums with Xandria: ''Sacrificium (Xandria album), Sacrificium'' and ''Theater of Dimensions''. Uilleann Pipes
The uilleann pipes ( or , ) are the characteristic national bagpipe of Ireland. Earlier known in English as "union pipes", their current name is a partial translation of the Irish language terms (literally, "pipes of the elbow"), from their method of inflation. There is no historical record of the name or use of the term ''uilleann pipes'' before the 20th century. It was an invention of Grattan Flood and the name stuck. People mistook the term 'union' to refer to the 1800 Act of Union; this is incorrect as Breandán Breathnach points out that a poem published in 1796 uses the term 'union'. Elisabeth Rodermund, known as Lisa Middelhauve (born Elisabeth Schaphaus on 28 November 1980) is a German musician, better known as the former lead vocalist and pianist (on the earliest works) of German symphonic metal band Xandria from early 2000, until April 2008, but returned as their singer in 2010, only to finish the remaining live shows due to their second lead vocalist, Kerstin Bischof's departure. After Xandria, in late 2010, Lisa Middelhauve was the guest singer for some shows of the French philharmonic metal band Whyzdom. Grant Stevens
Grant Stevens (born 27 October 1953 in Walcha, New South Wales, Australia) is an Australian singer and lyricist who has been based in Germany since the 1970s. He left his homeland in the 1970s for London, where he recorded various albums and singles for his bands The Soho Jets and Razar, produced by The Who producer Kit Lambert. From 1981 to 1984 he worked as singer in the German band Nervous Germans. He recorded the German hit " Everlasting Friends", which was used as a TV jingle for Holsten Pilsener in Europe. Lyriel are a German Heavy metal music, heavy metal band who formed in autumn of 2003 in Gummersbach. Originally playing folk metal, they turned more towards symphonic metal, symphonic and gothic metal. Lyriel has recorded five studio albums and published a DVD of a live performance.
