In The City (The Jam Album)
''In the City'' is the debut studio album by the English band the Jam. Released in May 1977 by Polydor Records, the album reached No. 20 on the UK Albums Chart. The album features the band's debut single and title track " In the City". In addition, the album includes two cover versions, " Slow Down" and the theme to the 1960s television series, ''Batman'', the latter of which had also been previously covered by the Who, the Kinks and Link Wray. Critical reception Upon its release, ''In the City'' received all-round positive reviews. Phil McNeil from the ''NME'' said that Paul Weller's songwriting "captures that entire teen frustration vibe with the melodic grace and dynamic aplomb of early Kinks and Who". Brian Harrigan of ''Melody Maker'' was equally impressed, remarking that Weller's songs "are anything but an embarrassment" and that "he has a deft touch that places his material on a much higher plateau". In ''Record Mirror'', Barry Cain opined: "Armed and extremely dangero ...

I'm A Boy
"I'm a Boy" is a 1966 rock song written by Pete Townshend for the Who. The song was originally intended to be a part of a rock opera called ''Quads'', which was to be set in a future in which parents can choose the sex of their children. The idea was later scrapped, but this song survived and was later released as a single. __TOC__ Overview The song is about a family who "order" four girls, but a mistake is made and three girls and one boy are delivered instead. The boy dreams of partaking in sports and other boy-type activities, but his mother forces him to act like his sisters and refuses to believe the truth ("I'm a boy, I'm a boy, but my Ma won't admit it"). The track was produced by Kit Lambert at IBC Studios around 31 July–1 August 1966 and released just over three weeks later on 26 August 1966, with "In the City" as the B-side. The single was hugely successful in the United Kingdom and Ireland, reaching number 2 in the UK Singles Chart and number 7 in Ireland. The s ...

Fight To Survive
''Fight to Survive'' is the debut studio album by the American-Danish glam metal band White Lion, released in late 1985 by Victor Records in Japan, and in June 1986 by Grand Slamm Records in the US. The album charted at No. 151 on the ''Billboard'' 200 in 1988, after the success of their second album, ''Pride''. Background The band was signed to Elektra Records, which shelved the album with no intention of publishing it in the USA. Philadelphia-based Grand Slamm Records bought the album from Elektra and released it in America the following year. Tramp has noted that once White Lion was dropped by Elektra Records, their manager managed to get the right to license the album and release it in Japan. The album actually broke in Europe before it did in the USA thanks to magazines covering the band. Tramp is very proud of songs like "All the Fallen Men" and "Kid of 1,000 Faces," which he considers among the darkest songs they have written. The song "Broken Heart" was released as ...

Up All Night (Razorlight Album)
''Up All Night'' is the debut album by English indie rock band Razorlight, released on 28 June 2004. The album was mainly recorded at Sawmills Studio and mixed at Sphere Studios by John Cornfield. The album garnered favourable reviews, but critics questioned the band's influence-filled musicianship throughout the tracks. ''Up All Night'' peaked at number 3 on the UK Albums Chart and spawned six singles: " Rock 'N' Roll Lies", " Rip It Up", " Stumble and Fall", " Golden Touch", "Vice" and " Somewhere Else". On 4 June 2014, the band, with only lead singer Johnny Borrell remaining from the line-up which recorded the album, played at the Electric Ballroom in Camden to mark ''Up All Night''s 10th anniversary. Cardiac Arrest (Madness Song)
"Cardiac Arrest" is a song by the English ska band Madness from their third studio album '' 7'' (1981) and other compilation album called ''Complete Madness'' (1982). It spent 10 weeks in UK charts peaking at number 14. The song was written by Chas Smash and Chris Foreman and tells a story of a workaholic who suffers a fatal heart attack on his way to work. It was the first Madness single since "The Prince" which did not reach the UK top 10. The album version of the song ends after the second chorus with a dramatic cut to a coda representing the man's heart thudding and then stopping. The single version replaces this with a repeat of the more optimistic first chorus, which fades out. The music video for "Cardiac Arrest" featured Chas Smash as a person having a heart attack and the remaining band members playing roles of people advising him not to work so hard. The video follows the single version of the song rather than the album version. The B-side, "In the City", was origin ...

This Time Around (Hanson Album)
''This Time Around'' is the second studio album by American pop rock group Hanson, released in 2000. Although Hanson had several albums in between, ''This Time Around'' is their first standard studio release since 1997's '' Middle of Nowhere''. ''This Time Around'' did not achieve the commercial success of its predecessor ''Middle of Nowhere''. The album does not feature as many bubblegum pop style tunes as ''Middle of Nowhere''; instead, Hanson opted to focus on a more classic rock sound, or as MTV.com stated, "stadium rock". The album also features numerous ballads, with songs such as "Sure About It" and "A Song to Sing" covering the themes of teenage insecurity and loneliness, much like " Weird" from ''Middle of Nowhere''. Critically, ''This Time Around'' received mainly positive reviews. To date, it has sold over one million copies worldwide. In The City (The Jam Song)
"In the City" is the debut single by English band the Jam from their album of the same title. It was released on 29 April 1977 and reached No. 40 on the UK Singles Chart in May 1977, making it their first Top 40 single and the beginning of their streak of 18 consecutive Top 40 singles. While the album was not particularly successful in the UK Albums Chart, the song was the UK's first introduction to The Jam, and was characteristic of Paul Weller's youth anthems—mod-influenced celebrations of British youth—that dominated the band's early output. In May 2002, Polydor Records decided to commemorate the 25th anniversary of The Jam by re-releasing their debut single in its original packaging, in its 7" vinyl record format and at its original price of 75 pence. The limited pressing sold out immediately, and the song made the Top 40 one more time, peaking at No. 36; higher than it did in its original release and two subsequent reissues. Only one single (" Freakin' Out" by Grah ...
