''Images'' is the fourth album by pop group Brotherhood of Man. It was released in 1977 and featured the No.1 hit, "Angelo". Background This was the group's second album release in 1977 (although the previous album had been recorded in 1976) and was led by the single, "Angelo". The single was released in June 1977 and became one of the group's biggest hits, reaching No.1 in the UK and spending 10 weeks in the top 10. The album was released on Pye Records in late October 1977 and also featured the follow-up single, "Highwayman". The second single failed to enter the UK charts, but did feature on the "breakers" section for two weeks in November 1977. In this month, the group appeared on TV's ''Royal Variety Performance ''before the Queen, but rather than promote their latest single, they elected to perform "Angelo". Brotherhood Of Man
Brotherhood of Man are a British pop group who achieved success in the 1970s. They won the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest with "Save Your Kisses for Me". Created in 1969 by songwriter and record producer Tony Hiller, Brotherhood of Man was initially an umbrella title for a frequently-changing line-up of session singers. Early on, they scored a worldwide hit with the song "United We Stand". By 1973 the concept had run its course and Hiller formed a definite four-member line-up consisting of Martin Lee, Lee Sheriden, Nicky Stevens and Sandra Stevens. This version of the group went on to score many hits around the world in the mid to late 1970s including "Kiss Me Kiss Your Baby", " Angelo", "Oh Boy (The Mood I'm In)" and " Figaro". They achieved perhaps their biggest success in their native UK with three number one singles and four top twenty albums. ''Music Week'' is a trade publication for the UK record industry distributed via a website and a monthly print magazine. It is published by Future. History Founded in 1959 as '' Record Retailer'', it relaunched on 18 March 1972 as ''Music Week''. On 17 January 1981, the title again changed, owing to the increasing importance of sell-through videos, to ''Music & Video Week''. The rival ''Record Business'', founded in 1978 by Brian Mulligan and Norman Garrod, was absorbed into Music Week in February 1983. Brotherhood Of Man Albums
This is a discography of the singles and albums of British pop group Brotherhood of Man. All singles and albums from 1974 are from a completely different line-up to the earlier releases. The earlier releases (on the Deram label) were credited to ''The'' Brotherhood of Man. The group's first appearance on the chart was on 14 February 1970 in the UK with the single " United We Stand". This went on to become a hit in many other countries, including the US. The first chart appearance of the later line-up is with the 1974 single "Lady" in Belgium and Holland. The first appearance by this line-up in the UK is with the single "Save Your Kisses For Me" on 13 March 1976. The song's entry at No.14 was the second highest Top 50 chart entry of that year (second to Queen's " Somebody to Love", which rose from 51 to 4 in a single week), due to its selection as the UK entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 1976. Martin Lee (singer)
Martin Lee (born 26 November 1946) is an English singer-songwriter, best known as a member of the pop group Brotherhood of Man. Early career Lee was born Martin Barnes in Purley, Surrey, but spent five years of his youth in Australia. As a teenager, he had a great interest in music and after learning to play guitar he formed his first band. In the early 1970s, he came to the attention of songwriter and publisher Tony Hiller, while he was working as lead singer with the Johnny Howard Band. Hiller signed him up to his company, Tony Hiller Music initially as a writer. On discovering that he could sing as well, he asked him to be part of the group he managed, Brotherhood of Man. The group had recently disbanded and Hiller was keen to put a new line-up together. Along with Lee Sheriden and Nicky Stevens and later Sandra Stevens, the new line-up was born. Lee Sheriden
Lee Sheriden (born Roger Pritchard; 11 April 1944 in Horfield, Bristol) is an English singer/songwriter and musical director, best known as a member of pop group Brotherhood of Man. Early career As a child, Roger Pritchard learned the piano and later took up the guitar when he joined his first group at the age of 14. This group appeared on the television talent show Carroll Levis Discoveries but he later found his way into other groups. After he left school he became a resident musician at the ''Top Rank'' Ballroom in Bristol (now renamed ''The Works'') for four years. In the early 1970s he embarked on a career as a songwriter. This brought him to the attention of Tony Hiller, who was looking for songwriters for his publishing company. ''Love and Kisses from Brotherhood of Man'' (usually referred to as simply ''Love and Kisses'') is the second album released by the new line-up of British pop group Brotherhood of Man. It was released in the UK the day before their 1976 Eurovision win with "Save Your Kisses for Me", which the album contained. In some European countries the album was released in October 1975 with a slightly different track listing. Background In line with their previous album, the style of the album's tracks was more soul-based than the pure pop for which the group would become famous. Due to this, the single "Save Your Kisses for Me" is somewhat out of place on the album, although pop is also present on the track "Cry Thief". Nicky Stevens
Nicky Stevens (born Helen Maria Thomas in Carmarthen, Wales, 3 December 1949) is a singer, famous as a member of pop group Brotherhood of Man. She is the only Welsh person to have won the Eurovision Song Contest. Early career Nicky Stevens began singing at an early age. At the age of four she was singing in a chapel in Carmarthen, and following lessons eventually joined the Hywel Girls Choir. She also studied classical music as a singer and pianist. At the age of 16 she held a residency in Swansea's Townsman nightclub. During this period she also took on a job as a telephone operator. This lasted for nine months and is the only job she has ever had outside the entertainment business. She later toured the Continent as a singer, performing in night clubs. Following this she went on to tour South Africa as well as clubs around the UK. Sandra Stevens
Sandra Stevens (born 23 November 1944, Leeds, Yorkshire) is an English singer and member of pop group Brotherhood of Man. Early career Sandra Stevens first entered into a singing career in the 1960s when she joined the club band, The Track (who then changed their name to The Nocturnes). The group was formed by drummer Ross Mitchell and among the six members Stevens sang vocals alongside Eve Graham (later of The New Seekers). Based in Manchester, the band played local clubs, performing pop hits of the day such as "The Loco-Motion" and "Da Doo Ron Ron". In early 1967 Stevens decided to leave the group and was replaced by Lyn Paul (also later of The New Seekers). Over the next few years she sang with the big bands of Joe Loss and Ken MacKintosh and also joined another group, Jason Flocks.
