The Illinois Fighting Illini men's basketball team is an NCAA Division I college basketball team competing in the Big Ten Conference, that represent the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Home games are played at the State Farm Center, located on the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's campus in Champaign, Illinois, Champaign. The 1910–11 Illinois Fighting Illini men's basketball team represented the University of Illinois. Regular season The 1910–11 season witnessed only the second coach to remain for more than one season since the beginning of the program. Thomas E. Thompson led the Illinois Fighting Illini men's basketball, Fighting Illini's basketball program for both the 1910–11 season and 1911–12 season compiling an overall record of 14 wins and 14 losses. Thompson claimed, at the time, to be the only player in Big Ten, Western Conference history to have played five years of collegiate basketball. The 1911–12 Illinois Fighting Illini men's basketball team represented the University of Illinois. Regular season The 1911–12 season was Thomas E. Thompson's second year as head coach of the Illinois Fighting Illini men's basketball team. Under Thompson's guidance the Illini experienced a perfect non-conference season while at the same time having a less than perfect conference record. Herb Juul
Herbert Victor Juul (February 2, 1886 – November 14, 1928) was a Major League Baseball pitcher and college basketball player and coach. He played for the Cincinnati Reds in 1911 Cincinnati Reds season, 1911. He appeared in two games for the Reds, on July 11 and July 15 of that season. In one of the games, he pitched four innings, allowing two runs on three hits. He pinch hit in the other game. Fletcher Lane
Fletcher Lane was an American college basketball coach for the University of Illinois from 1907 to 1908. Lane coached the Fighting Illini to a record of 20–6 with a Western Conference record of 6–5. Even though he led his team to a positive record, the university, as well as the athletes, deemed Lane's coaching style as subpar. Lane's team benefited from a long Southern trip in which the team beat several YMCA and club teams from Tennessee, Texas, Alabama, and Georgia. Personal life Lane was born in Hernando, Mississippi, on January 10, 1875. He attended the University of Nebraska and received a degree in physical education in 1905. Lane married Bertha Wiltamuth and had one child, Edward Neil Wiltamuth Lane (b. 1909), however, the couple's marriage ended in divorce. The 1906–07 Illinois Fighting Illini men's basketball team represented the University of Illinois. Regular season Frank L. Pinckney, Frank Loyer Pinckney took over the coaching reins from Elwood Brown for the 1906–1907 season. After a very promising start to the season, where more than 100 student athletes tried out for the team, Pinckney had three freshmen declared ineligible by the Big Ten, Western Conference. Due to this unfortunate circumstance, the Fighting Illini played the season with a depleted lineup and finished the season with the worst record in the history of the school.
