Illescas, Toledo
Illescas is a town and municipality of Spain located in the province of Toledo, Castilla–La Mancha. The municipality spans across a total area of 56.75 km2 and, as of 1 January 2020, it has a registered population of 30,229, which makes it the third most populated municipality in the province. It belongs to the traditional ''comarca'' of La Sagra. Name The first name reported in the middle ages was that of ''Elesches''. Ensuing variations include ''Ilesches'', ''Ilescas'', ''Ailescas'', ''Hilesques'', ''Ylesches'' and ''Hylesques''. A tentative identification with ''Egelesta'', mentioned in classical sources such as Ptolemy, has been proposed. It may be thus related to the Iberian-Basque 'egi-' ("hill line", "hillside"), whereas other authors relate ''Illescas'' to the proto-indoeuropean 'il' ("city"). Miguel Illescas
Miguel Illescas Córdoba (born December 3, 1965 in Barcelona) is a Spanish chess grandmaster. Chess career Illescas was a highly skilled player as a youngster and became junior champion of Catalonia at the age of 12. A trained computer scientist, chess remained his real passion and continued progress brought him an International Master title in 1986, followed by the Grandmaster title in 1988. Illescas rapidly became Spain's strongest and most consistent player over many years, registering his country's highest ever Elo rating (2620) in 1993, making him at the time, world number 26. His 1993 match with Ljubomir Ljubojević ended 4-4, with all eight games drawn. Around this time, he established his own chess school - ''La Escuela de Ajedrez de Miguel Illescas'', or EDAMI for short. Illescas Peninsula
Illescas is a peninsula in northwestern Peru. It forms the southern boundary of the Sechura Bay, the largest bay in Peru. Sechura Bay also includes the northernmost portion of the Pacific Ocean that is under the influence of the Peru-Chile or Humboldt Current. The Illescas Peninsula is located in the department of Piura, and is scarcely inhabited. Part of Illescas was declared a reserved zone.sernanp.gob.pe

Gonzalo de Illescas (died 22 October 1464) was a Hieronymite monk, an advisor to King John II of Castile from 1435 until 1454 and the bishop of Córdoba from 1454 until his death. Fernando De Illescas
Fernando González Fernández ( 1380–1419), called Fernando de Illescas, was a Franciscan confessor, reformer and bibliophile, one of the most influential churchmen in Castile during the reigns of John I and Henry III, whom he served as a diplomat. A partisan of the Avignon Papacy at the height of the Western Schism, he attended the Council of Perpignan (1408) and the Council of Constance (1416), but played only a minor role in trying to end the schism. Life Fernando was born in Illescas in the second half of the 14th century to Alfonso González and Mencía Fernández. He adopted his birthplace as a toponymic surname upon entering the Franciscan order. He had two brothers, Juan and Alfonso, who became bishop of Zamora and bishop of Burgos, respectively. Gonzalo De Illescas (historian)
Gonzalo de Illescas (1521–1574?) was a Spanish historian and abbot. Born in Dueñas, Palencia province, he was abbot of San Frontís de Zamora. He studied at Salamanca, and may have earned a degree in theology. He traveled in Italy (Venice, 1550; Rome, 1551). He translated works from Latin and composed and published in various editions a ''Historia pontifical y cathólica'' (''Pontifical and Catholic History'').
