Il Signor Max
''Il Signor Max'' is a 1937 Italian " white-telephones" comedy film directed by Mario Camerini and starring Vittorio De Sica and Assia Noris. Plot Gianni is a poor, young newspaper salesman in Rome. However, during his vacations he poses as Count Max Varaldo, an aristocrat. Once, on a cruise in Naples, he meets Donna Paola, a wealthy snob, and her maid Lauretta (a common, shy girl). After trying to establish a relationship with Donna Paola, Gianni, disappointed, decides to drop his alter ego Max and propose to Lauretta. However, she now believes that he is a Count. A series of humorous misunderstandings will happen before things get cleared. Mario Camerini
Mario Camerini (6 February 1895 – 4 February 1981) was an Italian film director and screenwriter. The cousin of Augusto Genina, he made the most well-known films in Italy during the 1930s, most of them comedies starring Vittorio De Sica. He directed about 50 films till 1972, including Ulysses (1954 film), ''Ulysses'' with American stars Kirk Douglas and Anthony Quinn, one of the first Europe/U.S.A. film coproductions. He died in 1981 in Gardone Riviera, Gardone Rivera, Italy. Gianfranco Bellini
Gianfranco Bellini (10 July 1924 – 9 August 2006) was an Italian film, television and voice actor. Biography Born in Palermo to parents who were also actors, Bellini made his film debut at age 12 alongside his mother in the 1936 film '' The Two Sergeants.'' The following year, Bellini starred in Mario Camerini's ''Il signor Max''. He was credited under his mother's maiden name. In 1948, Bellini sought a career in voice dubbing. His first ever Italian dubbing role was in ''Bambi'' in which he voiced the title character as an adolescent. Bellini's career as a voice actor skyrocketed during the 1950s and 1960s.
