The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has a system for categorizing public-use airports (along with heliports and other aviation bases) that is primarily based on the level of commercial passenger traffic through each facility. It is used to determine whether an airport is eligible for funding through the federal government's Airport Improvement Program (AIP). Fewer than 20% of airports in the U.S. qualify for the program, though most that don't qualify are private-use-only airports. At the bottom end are general aviation airports. To qualify for the AIP, they must have at least 10 aircraft based there but handle fewer than 2,500 scheduled passengers each year. Grant Aviation is a regional airline that serves the town of Kenai, the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, Bristol Bay, and the Aleutian Chain in Alaska, United States. The airline was formed in 1971 as Delta Air Services based in Emmonak, Alaska, Emmonak. The current owners are Bruce McGlasson and Mark "Woody" Richardson, who purchased the airline in 2004. Igiugig ( esu, Igyaraq) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lake and Peninsula Borough, Alaska, United States. The population was 68 at the 2020 census, up from 54 in 2010. The village is at the source of the Kvichak River, at the outlet of Lake Iliamna. History The word ''Igiugig'' means "Like a throat that swallows water". The village is named for its location at the outlet of Lake Iliamna, where it flows into the Kvichak River. Most of the population is made up of Yupik Eskimos, Aleuts, and Athabascan Indians.
