''Idris'' is a genus of parasitic wasps in the family Platygastridae, containing about 160 described species. This genus is part of the Tribe (biology), tribe Baeini, which are egg parasitoids. Members of the genus ''Idris'' are mostly parasitoids of spider eggs, but at least one member of the genus uses Pentatomidae, stink bugs as hosts.Michelson, A. (n.d.). Idris Of Libya
Idris (, Muhammad Idris bin Muhammad al-Mahdi as-Senussi; 13 March 1890 – 25 May 1983) was King of Libya from 24 December 1951 until his ousting in the 1 September 1969 coup d'état. He ruled over the United Kingdom of Libya from 1951 to 1963, after which the country became known as simply the Kingdom of Libya. Idris had served as Emir of Cyrenaica and Tripolitania from the 1920s until 1951. He was the chief of the Muslim Senussi Order. Idris was born into the Senussi Order. When his cousin Ahmed Sharif as-Senussi abdicated as leader of the Order, Idris took his position. The Senussi campaign was taking place, with the British and Italians fighting the Order. Idris put an end to the hostilities and, through the Modus vivendi of Acroma, abandoned Ottoman protection. Between 1919 and 1920, Italy recognized Senussi control over most of Cyrenaica in exchange for the recognition of Italian sovereignty by Idris. Idris is a Welsh and Arabic given name (usually masculine), also given as surname. The name has two different etymologies. Welsh: 'Ardent lord', from (lord, prince) + (ardent, enthusiastic, impulsive). It lends its name to the mountain ('Idris's Chair') by way of ('Idris the Giant'). The story of is believed to have come from the monkish king Idris of , who was slain in a battle with Oswald of Northumbria on the River Severn. Idris (prophet)
Idris () is an ancient prophet mentioned in the Qur'an, who Muslims believe was the second prophet after Adam. He is the third prophet mentioned in the Quran. Islamic tradition has unanimously identified Idris with the biblical Enoch. Many Muslim scholars of the classical and medieval periods held that Idris and Hermes Trismegistus were the same person. He is described in the Qur'an as "trustworthy" and "patient" and the Qur'an also says that he was "exalted to a high station". Because of this and other parallels, traditionally Idris has been identified with the biblical Enoch, and Islamic tradition usually places Idris in the early Generations of Adam, and considers him one of the oldest prophets mentioned in the Qur'an, placing him between Adam and Noah. Idris is a purely-functional programming language with dependent types, optional lazy evaluation, and features such as a totality checker. Idris may be used as a proof assistant, but is designed to be a general-purpose programming language similar to Haskell. The Idris type system is similar to Agda's, and proofs are similar to Coq's, including tactics (theorem proving functions/procedures) via elaborator reflection. Compared to Agda and Coq, Idris prioritizes management of side effects and support for embedded domain-specific languages. Idris compiles to C (relying on a custom copying garbage collector using Cheney's algorithm) and JavaScript (both browser- and Node.js-based). Idris Gawr
Idris Gawr (; c. 560 – 632) was a king of Meirionnydd in early medieval Wales. He is also sometimes known by the patronymic Idris ap Gwyddno (''Idris son of Gwyddno''). Although now known as Idris Gawr, (Idris the Giant) this may be an error and he may have originally been known as "Idris Arw" (Idris the Coarse). He was apparently so large that he could sit on the summit of Cadair Idris and survey his whole kingdom. Cadair Idris, a Welsh mountain, literally means "Chair of Idris". Idris was said to have studied the stars from on top of it and it was later reputed to bestow either madness or poetic inspiration on whoever spent a night on its summit. According to John Rhys, there were three other giants in the Welsh tradition along with Idris; these were Ysgydion, Offrwm, and Ysbryn and each of them is said to have a mountain named after him somewhere in the vicinity of Cadair Idris. Idris is a discontinued multi-tasking, Unix-like, multi-user, real-time operating system released by Whitesmiths, of Westford, Massachusetts. The product was commercially available from 1979 through 1988. Background Idris was originally written for the PDP-11 by P. J. Plauger, who started working on Idris in August 1978. It was binary compatible with Unix V6 on PDP-11, but it could run on non- memory managed systems (like LSI-11 or PDP-11/23) as well. The kernel required 31 KB of RAM, and the C compiler (provided along with the standard V6 toolset) had more or less the same size. Idris I (Idrīs bin Ibrāhīm Nikale), also known as Hajj-Idris (al-Ḥājj Idrīs), was the '' mai'' of the Kanem–Bornu Empire in 1329–1353. Life Idris was the son of Ibrahim I Nikale and Hafsa. He succeeded his second cousin Muhammad I as ''mai'' in 1329, after Muhammad's death in battle against the Sao. The Sao lived south of Lake Chad and had risen up in the reign of Selema (r. 1322–1326). The wars against the Sao had in quick succession claimed the lives of four ''mai''s prior to Idris's accession: Selema, Kuri I Gana, Kuri II Kura, and Muhammad I.
