Brian Iddon
Brian Iddon (born 5 July 1940) is a British Labour Party politician, who was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolton South East from 1997 to 2010. Early life Born in Tarleton, Lancashire and attended the village's Church of England Primary School, Christ Church Boys' School, Southport and the Southport Technical College (now Southport College). He went on to study at the University of Hull where he was awarded a BSc degree in Chemistry in 1961 and a PhD in Organic chemistry in 1964. Later in 1981, he was awarded a DSc for his work in Heterocyclic Organic Chemistry. He joined the staff of Durham University as a temporary organic chemistry lecturer in 1964 before becoming a demonstrator in organic chemistry in 1965. In 1966, he became an organic chemistry lecturer at the University of Salford until he became a senior lecturer at the university in 1978. Christian Iddon (born 7 January 1985) is a British motorcycle racer from Stockport, England. He is the son of former racer Paul Iddon. Career summary After two seasons with Paul Bird Ducati, Iddon is contracted to Buildbase Suzuki for 2022, racing in the British Superbike Championship. In 2020 Iddon was a frontrunner in the British Superbike championship, riding for VisionTrack Ducati. He finished third in the 2020 BSB championship, following a victory at Snetterton and a total of 8 podiums across the 18 races, and fourth in the 2021 season. In 2019, he completed his fourth BSB season with Tyco BMW, alongside teammate Keith Farmer who stepped up from Superstock. A regular in British Superbikes, Iddon has competed at a high level, winning races and championships in some of the biggest motorcycle racing championships across the world. John Iddon (8 January 1902 – 17 April 1946) was an English professional cricketer who played for Lancashire County Cricket Club from 1924 to 1945, and in five Test matches for England in 1935. He was born at Mawdesley, Lancashire, and died following a motor accident at Madeley, Staffordshire. Iddon was an all-rounder who played in 504 first-class matches. As a right-handed batsman, he scored 22,681 career runs at an average of 36.76 runs per completed innings with a highest score of 222 as one of 46 centuries. He was a slow left arm orthodox bowler and took 551 first-class wickets with a best return of 9/42. He took five wickets in an innings fourteen times and ten wickets in a match twice. His best match return was 10/85. Generally an outfielder, he held 218 career catches.
