Idaho State Highway 13
State Highway 13 (SH-13) is a state highway located entirely within Idaho County in North Central Idaho. SH-13 is long and runs from U.S. Route 95 (US 95) in Grangeville to US-12 in Kooskia. In addition to those cities, SH-13 also serves the city of Stites and the community of Harpster. SH-13 has one special route, Business Loop 13 in Kooskia. Route description SH-13 begins at an intersection with US-95 in western Grangeville. It heads east through that city along Main Street. East of Grangeville, the highway heads generally northeast along the Harpster Grade Road, through the rolling farmland of Idaho County. east of Grangeville, the terrain becomes mountainous as SH-13 begins a descent towards the South Fork Clearwater River. State Highway 14 is a state highway located entirely within Idaho County, Idaho. Route description It runs from its western terminus at Idaho State Highway 13 near Grangeville to its eastern terminus at Sweeney Hill Road in unincorporated Elk City. Stites, Idaho
Stites is a city in Idaho County, Idaho, United States. In the lower canyon of the South Fork of the Clearwater River, it is about four miles (6 km) upstream and south of Kooskia on State Highway 13. The population was 221 at the 2010 census, down from 226 in 2000. History Stites was named for Jacob Stites of New Jersey, who homesteaded the land in 1897 which became the city. He sold two years later and exercised his option to name it. Stites became the eastern terminus Northern Pacific branch line up the Clearwater in 1900, later the Camas Prairie Railroad's first subdivision line. It climbed the main river eastward from Lewiston to Kooskia and then turned south to ascend the lower South Fork. The abandoned spur was removed in the 1980s, and the city incorporated in early 1905.
