Idaho Legislature
The Idaho Legislature consists of the upper Idaho Senate and the lower Idaho House of Representatives. Idaho is divided into 35 legislative districts, which each elect one senator and two representatives. There are no term limits for either chamber. The crossing of upper and lower house districts into a single constituency is found in only seven U.S. state legislatures: Idaho, Arizona, Maryland, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Washington. Kate Kelly (politician)
Kate Kelly is an American politician who served as Idaho State Senator from the Ada County-based District 18 from 2004 to 2010. She is a member of the Democratic Party. Career In January 2009, she succeeded Senator Clint Stennett of Ketchum as Idaho Senate minority leader after Stennett's announcement that he would miss all of the 2009 legislative session while battling brain cancer. Kelly was previously the assistant minority leader in the Idaho Senate, Deputy Attorney General for the State of Idaho, and a senior manager at the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality. Idaho House Of Representatives
The Idaho House of Representatives is the lower chamber of the Idaho State Legislature. It consists of 70 representatives elected to two-year terms. The state is divided into 35 districts, each of which elects two representatives to separate seats. It meets at the Idaho State Capitol in Boise, Idaho, in the State Capitol Building. Composition of the House The Idaho House of Representatives has been continuously controlled by the Republican Party since the late 1950s, usually by a wide margin. Jim Risch
James Elroy Risch ( ; born May 3, 1943) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the junior United States senator from Idaho since 2009. A member of the Republican Party, he served as lieutenant governor of Idaho under governors Dirk Kempthorne and Butch Otter and as the 31st governor of Idaho from 2006 to 2007. Raised in Milwaukee, Risch moved to Idaho in the early 1960s. After graduating from the University of Idaho, he received a B.S. degree in forestry in 1965 and earned a J.D. in 1968. Afterward, he taught criminal law at Boise State University, and in 1970 was elected as Ada County prosecuting attorney. In 1974, he was elected to the Idaho Senate, where he represented the 21st legislative district from 1974 to 1988. Fred Tilman
Fred Tilman (born June 21, 1945) is an American politician who served as a member of Idaho House of Representatives from 2002 to 2004. He later served as a member of the Ada County Board of Commissioners. Early life and education Tilman was born in Caldwell, Idaho and attended Boise State University. Bill Sali
William Thomas Sali (born February 17, 1954) is an American lawyer and politician who served as a congressman from Idaho. A Republican, he served a single term in the United States House of Representatives, representing from 2007 to 2009. Sali previously served in the Idaho Legislature as a member of the House. Sali was elected to an open seat in Congress in 2006. He was defeated for reelection in 2008 by Democrat Walt Minnick. Sali was the first Idaho congressman to fail to win a second term in 56 years, since Republican John Travers Wood was defeated in 1952. Roger Madsen
Roger Madsen is an American attorney and politician who served as the director of the Idaho Department of Labor. Madsen had previously served as a member of the Idaho Senate from 1988 to 1990 and 1992 to 1994. Early life and education Madsen is a native of Pullman, Washington. Mitch Toryanski
Mitch Toryanski (born May 1, 1958) was a Republican member of the Idaho Senate representing District 18 from 2010 to 2012. Toryanski is married to Kim Wherry Toryanski and is a father to three children. Early life and career Toryanski is an alumnus of the United States Military Academy, the United States Army War College and The American University. Julie Ellsworth
Julie Ellsworth (born December 8, 1961) is an American politician from Idaho. She has been the treasurer of Idaho since 2019. Ellsworth also was a Republican Idaho State Representative representing District 18 in the A seat from 2010 to 2012.
