Ida Gerhardt Poëzieprijs
The Ida Gerhardt Poëzieprijs (Dutch for Ida Gerhardt Poetry Prize) is a Dutch poetry award named after classicist and poet Ida Gerhardt. The award was created by the municipal council of the city of Zutphen and is now awarded by the Stichting Ida Gerhardt Prijs. The award was created in 1998 and first awarded in 2000. Anne Vegter
Anne Vegter (born 31 December 1958, Delfzijl) is a Dutch poet, playwright and writer of children's literature. She is the first woman to hold the position of Dichter des Vaderlands (Dutch Poet Laureate). Early life Vegter attended a gymnasium in Drachten and Epe. She studied art history and pedagogy in at the Academie voor Expressie door Woord en Gebaar in Utrecht in the late seventies. In 1976, she worked in a psychiatric institution. In 1977, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Career Poetry and writing In 1989, she published her first children's book ''De dame en de neushoorn'' with illustrations by Geerten Ten Bosch. For this book they were awarded the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs in 1990. The main characters in this book were first introduced in the children's magazine ''St. Kitts van de Bovenwindse''. Marieke Lucas Rijneveld
Marieke Lucas Rijneveld (born 20 April 1991 in Nieuwendijk, the Netherlands) is a Dutch writer. Rijneveld won the 2020 International Booker Prize together with his translator Michele Hutchison for the debut novel ''The Discomfort of Evening''. Rijneveld is the first Dutch author to win the prize, the first non-binary person to do so and only the third Dutch author to be nominated. Life Rijneveld grew up in a Reformed protestant family on a farm in North Brabant in the Netherlands. Rijneveld has said that his debut novel, translated into English as ''The Discomfort of Evening'', is inspired partly by the death of his brother when the author was three. Peter Verhelst
Peter Verhelst (born 28 January 1962) is a Belgian Flemish novelist, poet and dramatist. He won the Ferdinand Bordewijk Prijs for '' Tongkat''. Life Peter Verhelst was born in Bruges, Belgium. In his youth, he was extremely interested in books, reading atlases and encyclopaediae, as well as novels, and writing poetry from the age of 16. While a teacher in Dutch, English and History, he debuted in 1987 with the poem "Obsidiaan", with his first novel - "Vloeibaar harnas" - following in 1993. Thereafter, he worked as a teacher at the Institute for Food in Bruges, quitting in 1999 to begin writing full-time. Nachoem Mesoelam (Nachoem) Wijnberg (Amsterdam, 13 April 1961) is a poet and author from the Netherlands. Ida Gerhardt
Ida Gerhardt (11 May 1905, Gorinchem – 15 August 1997, Warnsveld) was a classicist and Dutch poet of a post-symbolist tradition. Life In her hometown Rotterdam Ida Gerhardt attended the Erasmus Gymnasium, where the poet J.H. Leopold was her Classics Teacher. He made an indelible impression on her. There she also met her future life partner Marie H. van der Zeyde. From 1924 to 1933 Gerhardt studied classical languages, first in Leiden and later in Utrecht. In 1942 she graduated cum laude on the translation of Lucretius' ''De rerum natura'', Books I and V. From 1937 she was a teacher in Groningen, then in Kampen.
