''Icon'' is a studio album recorded and released by Asia band members John Wetton and Geoffrey Downes in 2005. It is the first in the ''Icon'' series (though they previously released the album ''Wetton Downes'' in 2002, a collection of demos from the 1980s). ''Icon'' was followed by the albums '' Icon II: Rubicon'' in 2006 and ''Icon 3'' in 2009. All three were reissued in 2018 by Epicon Records, a vanity label for Icon albums set up by Wetton's estate and Downes. Asia (band)
Asia are an English rock supergroup formed in London in 1981. The most commercially successful line-up was its original, which consisted of four members of different progressive rock bands that had enjoyed great success in the 1970s: lead vocalist and bassist John Wetton of King Crimson and U.K., guitarist Steve Howe of Yes, keyboardist Geoff Downes of Yes and the Buggles, and drummer Carl Palmer of Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Their debut album, ''Asia'', released in 1982, remains their bestselling album and went to number one in several countries. John Mitchell (born 21 June 1973) is a musician and record producer. He primarily plays guitar and has been a member of the bands It Bites, Arena, Frost*, Kino, A, The Urbane and Lonely Robot. Early life and career Mitchell describes seeing Eric Clapton perform the song "Miss You" from his 1986 album ''August'' at a Prince's Trust concert as 'the single defining moment that made me decide to put down the violin and pick up a guitar'. "Heat of the Moment" is the first single released by English progressive rock supergroup Asia from their 1982 eponymous debut album. It was written by singer and bass guitarist John Wetton and keyboardist Geoff Downes. It was named by Lee Zimmerman of '' Paste'' as Asia's signature song. Background Singer John Wetton said, B-sides "Time Again" is the B-side of the U.K. release. The song was written by all the band members, Geoff Downes, Steve Howe, Carl Palmer and John Wetton, and can also be found on the ''Asia'' album. "Ride Easy" is the B-side of the singles released outside of the United Kingdom. This song was written by Wetton and Howe. Annie Haslam (born 8 June 1947) is an English vocalist, songwriter and painter. She is best known as the lead singer of progressive rock band Renaissance since 1971, and for her long and diverse solo singing career. She has a five-octave vocal range. An icon () is a religious work of art, most commonly a painting, in the cultures of the Eastern Orthodox, Oriental Orthodox, and Catholic churches. Rubicon
The Rubicon ( la, Rubico; it, Rubicone ; rgn, Rubicôn ) is a shallow river in northeastern Italy, just north of Rimini. It was known as Fiumicino until 1933, when it was identified with the ancient river Rubicon, famously crossed by Julius Caesar in 49 BC. ''Wetton/Downes'' (sometimes stylised as ''Wetton-Downes'' or ''Wetton & Downes'', though the album is given no official title) is the first album released by Asia member Geoff Downes and former Asia member John Wetton, and is a precursor to their ''Icon'' series. It is essentially a collection of (previously unreleased) demo tracks, mostly recorded during Asia's hiatus in the late 1980s through the time of their brief reformation in 1990.
