Icelandic Women's Football Super Cup
The Icelandic Women's Super Cup (Icelandic: ''Meistarakeppni kvenna'') is an annual football game between the reigning champions of the Icelandic League (Úrvalsdeild) champions and the Icelandic Cup holders (or, if the same team holds both titles, between the title-holder and (usually) the team in second place in the Úrvalsdeild or occasionally the second placed team in the Icelandic Cup). It generally takes place at the start of the Iceland domestic season, in May and has been running uninterrupted since 2003 (when the holders of the 2002 titles met). Before that the competition was uninterrupted between 1992 and 1998. Title-holders from 1999, 2000 and 2001 did not play for this title. The most successful team is Breiðablik with a total of nine wins. Breiðablik Women's Football
The Breiðablik women's football team is the women's football department of the Breiðablik UBK multi-sport club. It is based in Kópavogur, Iceland, and currently plays in the Úrvalsdeild kvenna, the top-tier women's football league in Iceland. They finished second in the league in 2017 and first in 2018. They won the Úrvalsdeild kvenna in 2020 and are currently competing in the 2021–22 UEFA Women's Champions League. The Besta deild kvenna is the top-tier women's football league in Iceland. It features 10 teams that play a double round robin to decide the champion, which qualifies for a spot in the UEFA Women's Champions League. The 2022 season was the first season of the league after it was rebranded as ''Besta deild kvenna''; previously, it had been named Úrvalsdeild kvenna. The Valur women's football team, commonly known as Valur, is the women's football department of the Valur multi-sport club. It is based in Reykjavík, Iceland, and currently plays in the Úrvalsdeild kvenna, the top-tier women's football league in Iceland. The team plays it home games at Hlíðarendi located in Reykjavík. The ÍBV women's football team is the women's football department of the ÍBV-íþróttafélag (English: ÍBV sports club) multi-sport club. It is based in Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland, and currently plays in the Úrvalsdeild kvenna, the top-tier women's football league in Iceland. The team plays it home games at the Hásteinsvöllur. ÍBV has won the Icelandic Cup twice, in 2004 and 2017. Þór/KA is an Icelandic women's football team based in Akureyri. It is a joint team fielded by Þór Akureyri and Knattspyrnufélag Akureyrar and currently competes in Úrvalsdeild kvenna. On September 29, 2017, they won their second Icelandic championship. History Since 1999, Þór Akureyri and KA have fielded a joint women's team under the name Þór/KA in the Iceland's top tier Úrvalsdeild kvenna. Knattspyrnufélag Siglufjarðar joined the collaboration in 2001 and subsequently the team was named Þór/KA/KS until KS left the collaboration after 2005 season. In 2006 the team finished 7th of 8 teams, 8th/9 in 2007, the reaching a good 4th/10 in 2008 and then bettering those results with 3rd/10 in 2009 and a second-place finish in 2010.
