The Icelandic Basketball Association (''Icelandic:Körfuknattleikssamband Íslands - KKÍ'') is the national governing body of basketball in Iceland and is a member of the continental association FIBA Europe and the global International Basketball Federation (FIBA). It directs and oversees all of the national basketball teams of Iceland, including both the junior and senior national teams of both men and women. It was founded on January 29, 1961 and its first chairman was Bogi Þorsteinsson, but current chairman is Hannes S. Jónsson. Ingi Þór Steinþórsson
Ingi Þór Steinþórsson (born 9 May 1972) is an Icelandic professional basketball coach. He last coached Úrvalsdeild karla club KR. As head coach, Ingi Þór has won the Icelandic men's national championship and the women's national championship three times each. He was named Úrvalsdeild karla Coach of the Year in 2010, when he won the Úrvalsdeild karla title with the Snæfell while also being named Úrvalsdeild kvenna Coach of the Year three times, in 2014–2016, when he led Snæfell women's team to a three-peat. Ingi Þór served as an assistant coach at KR from 1998 to 1999 and 2008–2009, helping the club win the national championship in 2009. On 12 June 2018 he was introduced as the next head coach of the reigning men's national champions, KR, replacing Finnur Freyr Stefánsson. FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup
The FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup (formerly FIBA Under-19 World Championship) is the under-19 men's world basketball championship organised by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). FIBA U18 European Championship
The FIBA U18 European Championship, originally known as the European Championship for Juniors, is a youth men's basketball competition that was inaugurated with the 1964 edition. It was held biennially through the 2002 edition. From the 2004 edition onward, it has been held every year. It serves as the qualification tournament for the FIBA Under-19 World Cup, for the FIBA Europe region. The current champions are Spain. Iceland Men's National Basketball Team
The Iceland men's national basketball team ( is, Íslenska karlalandsliðið í körfubolta) represents Iceland in international basketball tournaments. The team is controlled by the Icelandic Basketball Association. Iceland has qualified for the EuroBasket twice, with the national team making their first ever appearance in 2015.
