Ibrahim Mursal
Ibrahim Mursal Warsame ( ar, إبراهيم مُرسال, born 1990 ) is a Norwegian film director of Sudanese and Somali origins. He is known for writing and directing The Art of Sin, a documentary about openly gay Sudanese artist Ahmed Umar (artist), Ahmed Umar. Early life and education Mursal was born in 1990 in Somalia but fled with his family during the Somali Civil War, civil war. In Sudan, he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Oil and Gas exploration from the Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST) in 2012. He completed a Film and Photographic Arts workshop at Goethe-Institute Sudan in 2012 which (re)kindled his interest in filmmaking. Sudan University of Science and Technology (abbreviated SUST) is one of the largest public universities in Sudan, with ten campuses in Khartoum state. The main campus is located in the so-called Al Mugran area of Khartoum, the confluence of the White Nile and the Blue Nile. History SUST was founded in colonial Sudan as the Khartoum Technical School and School of Commerce in 1902. Later, the School of Radiology (1932) and School of Design (1946) and School of Commerce merged with the Khartoum Technical School to form the Khartoum Technical Institute (KTI) in 1950. Keinan Abdi Warsame (born 1 February 1978) ( so, Keynaan Cabdi Warsame, ar, كَينَان عَبدِ وَرسَمَ ''Kaynān ʿAbdi Warsama''), better known by his stage name K'naan (), is a Somali-Canadian musician. Yasmin Abshir Warsame ( so, Yasmiin Abshir Warsame, ar, ياسمين ابشير ارسام; born May 5, 1976) is a Somali-Canadian model and activist. In 2004, she was named "The Most Alluring Canadian" in a poll by ''Fashion'' magazine. Biography Warsame was born in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1976. She is a Muslim. Mohamed Ibrahim Warsame
Mohamed Ibrahim Warsame (1943 – 18 August 2022), known by the pseudonym Hadrawi, was a Somali poet, philosopher and songwriter. Having written many notable protest works, Hadrawi has been likened by some to Shakespeare, and his poetry has been translated into various languages. Biography Hadrawi was born in Burao, situated in the Togdheer region of Somaliland, then part of British Somaliland. Hadrawi hails from the Ahmed Farah sub-division of the Habr Je'lo Isaaq. His family consisted of one girl and eight boys. In 1953, at the age of nine, he went to live with an uncle in the Yemeni port city of Aden. Sudan Independent Film Festival (SIFF) is an annual festival for Sudanese and international films in Khartoum. Since 2014, it has been organised between January 21–27 by the Sudan Film Factory. ''The Art of Sin'' ( ar, فن الخطيئة) is a 2020 Sudanese documentary film written and directed by Ibrahim Mursal. The filming is a delicate portrait of the artist and LGBT activist Ahmed Umer, who campaigns for gay visibility and seeks new forms of expression for their Sudanese-Norwegian identity.
