Ian Williams (footballer, Born 1957)
Ian Williams (born 1 July 1957) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Footscray in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Williams started his career in the West Australian Football League, with Swan Districts. He represented Western Australia in an interstate match against South Australia at Football Park in 1980. Recruited by Footscray before the 1982 season, Williams did not come and entangled himself with WAFL authorities by intending to work in Port Hedland and play for Port Hedland Panthers in the De Grey league, which would have meant he faced a two-year ban had he actually played after injury. Williams played his first VFL season in 1983 and was the Bulldogs’ third leading goal-kicker with 31 goals from 17 games, behind Simon Beasley and Jim Edmond. Swan Districts Football Club
The Swan Districts Football Club, nicknamed the Swans, is an Australian rules football club playing in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and WAFL Women's (WAFLW). The club is based at Bassendean Oval, in Bassendean, an eastern suburb of Perth, Western Australia. The club was formed in 1932, and joined the then-Western Australian National Football League (WANFL) in 1934, acting as a successor to the Midland Junction Football Club, which had disbanded during World War I, in the Perth Hills region. The 1983 VFL season was the 87th season of the Victorian Football League (VFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Victoria. The season featured twelve clubs, ran from 26 March until 24 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top five clubs. Prior to the season, the South Melbourne Football Club, which had played its home games in Sydney, New South Wales in 1982, formally relocated its operations to Sydney and was renamed the Sydney Swans. Fitzroy Football Club
The Fitzroy Football Club is an Australian rules football club currently competing in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA). Formed in 1883 to represent the inner-Melbourne municipality of Fitzroy, the club was a member of the Victorian Football Association (VFA), before becoming a foundation member of the breakaway Victorian Football League (VFL/AFL) in 1897. Jim Edmond
Jim Edmond (born 3 September 1958 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a former Australian rules footballer. Originally from Bairnsdale Football Club, Edmond made his senior debut for Footscray Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) in 1977. Winning the club goalkicking award in 1981 with 25 goals, Edmond was Footscray captain from 1983 to 1985. After playing in three finals matches for Footscray in 1985, Edmond left the club over a contractual dispute. Edmond transferred to the Sydney Swans for the 1986 VFL season, before moving to Brisbane Bears for their inaugural season in 1987. Edmond spent two seasons at Brisbane, playing 17 games before his retirement at the end of the 1988 VFL season. Simon Beasley
Simon Francis Beasley (born 26 July 1956) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Swan Districts Football Club in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and for the Footscray Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). A pale and slightly-built full forward, Beasley is the Western Bulldogs' leading career goalkicker and also holds the record for kicking the most goals in the VFL between the years 1980 to 1989. He is also one of two footballers (the other being George Moloney) to have kicked 100 or more goals in a season in both the WAFL and VFL/AFL competitions. Beasley worked as a stockbroker for various firms during and after his playing days.
