Ian Johnstone (footballer)
Ian Donaldson Johnstone (2 March 1939 – 1993) was a Scottish footballer who played in the Football League as a forward for Colchester United. Career Born in Galashiels, Johnstone joined Scottish amateur club Ormiston Primrose as a youth, earning a move to Colchester United in the 1958–59 season. He played two games in the Football League for the U's, making his debut in a 1–0 home victory against Chesterfield on 18 April 1959 and made his final appearance on 29 August 1959 in a 2–2 draw with Barnsley Barnsley () is a market town in South Yorkshire, England. Ian Anthony Johnstone (born 1935) is a New Zealand broadcaster, presenter and journalist. Early life Johnstone was born in Longtown, Cumbria, Longtown, Cumberland, England, in 1935, and studied English at Durham University (St Chad's College, Durham, St Chad's College). He moved to New Zealand in 1961 after working in Britain and spending three years as a colonial administrator in Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia). Career In his early career in New Zealand, Johnstone was a teacher at Opihi College, Temuka District High School (now Opihi College), and worked part-time as an announcer at Radio Caroline (New Zealand), Radio 3XC in Timaru. Johnstone was an interviewer for the weekly television programme, ''Close Up'', and became a reporter and producer for ''Compass'', which aired from 1964 to 1969. Iain Johnstone (born 8 April 1943 in Reading, Berkshire) is an English author, broadcaster and television producer. Early life Johnstone attended Crosfields School, Reading, Campbell College, Belfast and Bristol University. Career Johnstone was the film critic of ''The Sunday Times'' for twelve years and presenter of the '' Film 82'' programme (when regular presenter Barry Norman was busy with other projects). He was also its original producer, and produced other British TV programmes such as the BBC Two chat show ''Friday Night, Saturday Morning'', ''The Frost Interview'' and ran the BBC's Watergate coverage. He co-wrote the film ''Fierce Creatures'' (1997) with John Cleese, and has made eight documentaries with Steven Spielberg, starting with ''The Jaws Report'' and including ''Steven and Stanley'' about Spielberg's collaboration with Stanley Kubrick.
