Ian Hudson
Ian Robert Burton Hudson is a British physician and former government official who served as the chief executive of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) from 2013 to 2019. He later became Senior Advisor, Integrated Development, Global Health for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He was appointed an OBE for services to healthcare in the 2020 New Year Honours. Career Hudson practised as a paediatrician from 1982 to 1989, and then worked in clinical research and development in the pharmaceutical industry, lately as a vice president of SmithKline Beecham, between 1989 and 2001. In 2001 he became director of the licensing division of the then-Medicines Control Agency. Medicines And Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) is an executive agency of the Department of Health and Social Care in the United Kingdom which is responsible for ensuring that medicines and medical devices work and are acceptably safe. The MHRA was formed in 2003 with the merger of the Medicines Control Agency (MCA) and the Medical Devices Agency (MDA). In April 2013, it merged with the National Institute for Biological Standards and Control (NIBSC) and was rebranded, with the MHRA identity being used solely for the regulatory centre within the group. The agency employs more than 1,200 people in London, York and South Mimms, Hertfordshire. Dame June Munro Raine (' Harris; born 1952), is a British pharmacologist who is currently serving as the Chief Executive of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in the United Kingdom.
