Ian Callinan (Australian Footballer)
Ian Callinan (born 20 December 1982) is a former professional Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League, playing with the Adelaide Crows. He was the league's smallest player during his career, standing at only 172 cm. He played as both a midfielder and a small forward during his career. Playing career Junior Callinan played his junior football in Tasmania, initially at Rokeby, Tasmania, Rokeby, before joining Lauderdale Football Club, Lauderdale as an Under-16 and Clarence Football Club, Clarence as an Under-18. He regularly represented Tasmania in junior representative football, most notably in the AFL Under 18 Championships, AFL National Under-18s championships in 2000, where he won the Hunter-Harrison Medal as the tournament's Division Two best and fairest, and was selected in the Under-18 All-Australian team as a forward pocket. The Clarence Football Club, nicknamed ''The Kangaroos'' (and usually referred to as simply "The Roos"), is an Australian rules football club playing in the Tasmanian State League, based in Bellerive, Tasmania. Before 1947, they existed as Bellerive Football Club. The Sandy Bay Football Club was an Australian rules football club based in Sandy Bay, Tasmania. The team participated in the Tasmanian Football League from 1945 to 1997. Club history The club was founded in November 1944 as a result of a meeting called by the late Bill Barwick at Wrest Point Riviera (now Wrest Point Casino). With World War II in its final stages it became clear that some former TANFL clubs would not survive and as a result, the League's Constitution was amended to provide for district football. In 1945 four clubs, Sandy Bay, North Hobart, New Town and Hobart, took part in the revamped competition. Sandy Bay adopted the colours of Royal Blue and White, the playing jumper was Royal Blue and White with a white seagull on the breast. The All-Australian team is an all-star team of Australian rules football in Australia, Australian rules footballers, selected by a panel at the end of each season. It represents a complete team, including an interchange bench, of the best-performed players during the season, led by that season's premiership coach. The Australian Football League stages the highest-level senior Australian rules football competition in the country.
