Iain Lower
Rear Admiral Iain Stuart Lower, is a senior Royal Navy officer. He was Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Policy) 2020-2022. Naval career Lower joined the Royal Navy on 1 May 1992. He became commanding officer of the destroyer in 2009 and, in that capacity, was deployed to the South Atlantic. He went on to become commanding officer of the destroyer in 2013, Head of Military Plans for Africa and the Americas in 2014, and the Chief of the Defence Staff's personal Liaison Officer to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington, D.C. in 2016. After that he became Director for Strategy, International Relations, Maritime Sector, Parliamentary & Academic Engagement in September 2017, and Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Policy) from November 2020 until November 2022, when he retired. The Most Honourable Order of the Bath is a British order of chivalry founded by George I on 18 May 1725. The name derives from the elaborate medieval ceremony for appointing a knight, which involved bathing (as a symbol of purification) as one of its elements. The knights so created were known as "Knights of the Bath". George I "erected the Knights of the Bath into a regular Military Order". He did not (as is commonly believed) revive the Order of the Bath, since it had never previously existed as an Order, in the sense of a body of knights who were governed by a set of statutes and whose numbers were replenished when vacancies occurred. Rear Admiral Anthony Kingsmil Rimington is a senior Royal Navy officer. He is currently serves as Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Policy). Naval career Educated at Sherborne School and Durham University, Rimington joined the Royal Navy in September 1991. He trained as a naval pilot and then took part in the evacuation of personnel from Beirut in 2006. General Gwyn Jenkins, is a senior Royal Marines officer, serving as Vice-Chief of the Defence Staff since August 2022. He was concurrently appointed Commandant General Royal Marines in November 2022. Early life and education Jenkins was educated at Malmesbury School. He graduated from the Military College Shrivenham in 2004, where he completed a master's degree in Defence Studies. Military career Jenkins was commissioned into the Royal Marines in 1990. He spent time as a junior officer in the Commando Logistics Regiment and on operations in Northern Ireland with 42 Commando. The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) is the professional head of the British Armed Forces and the most senior uniformed military adviser to the secretary of state for defence and the prime minister of the United Kingdom.
