Iachen Ulrich Könz
Iachen Ulrich Könz (20 February 1899 – 25 December 1980) was a Swiss architect, conservator-restorer, and author. Biography Iachen Ulrich Könz was born in 1899 in Arezzo, Tuscany. He was the son of the merchant Peider Könz and Constanza (born Vital). He studied architecture at ETH in Zürich and Stuttgart Technology University of Applied Sciences in Germany. Könz was married to Dora Geer and they had four sons. One of them is the painter Constant Könz. In 1939 Könz remarried with the author Selina Chönz (born Meyer). They had one son, the painter . Work Könz started an architecture firm which he ran in Davos (1926-1927), then Zuoz, and from 1939 in Guarda. Könz worked on a number of different constructions and restorations in Grüabunden, such as the machine house of the power station at Zervreilasee, the Wildenberg castle in Zernez, and the house Casa Grande (Ciäsa Granda) in Stampa. Guarda is a former municipality in Inn District in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. On 1 January 2015 the former municipalities of Ardez, Guarda, Tarasp, Ftan and Sent merged into the municipality of Scuol. Zernez
Zernez is a village and a municipality in the Engiadina Bassa/Val Müstair Region in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. On 1 January 2015 the former municipalities of Lavin and Susch merged into the municipality of Zernez. Zernez is a major node in the regional road network, with roads leading into the Upper Engadine and towards Italy, the Lower Engadine and towards Austria, over the Fuorn Pass into the Val Mustair and over the Flüela Pass. Wildenberg Castle (Zernez)
Planta-Wildenberg Castle is a castle in the municipality of Zernez of the Canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance. History The Wildenberg family was a cadet branch of the Greifenstein family of Filisur. In addition to the Wildenberg Castle in Falera, they owned castles and estates throughout the valleys of Graubünden. Wildenberg Castle in Zernez was first mentioned as the home of the family in 1280/90. In 1296 the Bishop of Chur took the right to collect tithes from Wildenberg and pledged it to the Lords of Planta. It is unclear if the castle went with the tithes, but by the 14th century Wildenberg was owned by the bishop and held by the Planta family. In 1365 representatives from the communities around Chur met for the first time at the castle under the auspices of the Planta family. Zervreilasee
__NOTOC__ Zervreilasee is a reservoir located south-west of Vals in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. Geography The lake has a surface area of 1.61 km² and an elevation of 1,862 m. The maximum depth is 140 m. The dam is 151 m high and was completed in 1957. The village of Zervreila was flooded after the construction of the dam. A 150-metre-long bridge (''Canalbrücke'') crosses the southern bay of the lake. The Zervreilasee, located near the upper end of the Valser Tal, is surrounded by peaks over 3,000 metres. The highest visible from the lake is the Güferhorn (3,379 m), located on the south side. Other peaks are the Fanellhorn (3,124 m), the Frunthorn (3,030 m), Piz Scharboda (3,122 m), the Plattenberg (3,041 m) and the Furggeltihorn (3,043 m). The Zervreilahorn is a sharp peak overlooking the lake from its south-west side.
