I Want More (Faithless Song)
"I Want More" is a song recorded by UK dance group Faithless, released as a single on 23 August 2004. It features a vocal sample from the singer and pianist Nina Simone (from "Tell Me More and More and Then Some" on the 1965 album ''Pastel Blues''). Also sampled in the intro and outro is an excerpt from Pink Floyd’s "On the Run", from the 1970s album ''The Dark Side of the Moon''. The album version, featured on '' No Roots'', was released on 7 June 2004 and was split into two parts. The second most closely resembles the later-released single, with vocals from Maxi Jazz and Nina Simone. The first part features vocals from LSK who collaborated with Faithless for many tracks on the album. The single was released progressively as a 3-part set in the Netherlands with releases coming on 23 August, 6 September, and 20 September 2004. Jess Collins (August 6, 1923 – January 2, 2004), simply known today as Jess, was an American visual artist. Biography Jess was born Burgess Franklin Collins in Long Beach, California. He was drafted into the military and worked on the production of plutonium for the Manhattan Project. After his discharge in 1946, Jess worked at the Hanford Atomic Energy Project in Richland, Washington, and painted in his spare time, but his dismay at the threat of atomic weapons led him to abandon his scientific career and focus on his art. In 1949, Jess enrolled in the California School of the Arts (now the San Francisco Art Institute) and, after breaking with his family, began referring to himself simply as "Jess". On The Run (instrumental)
"On the Run" is the third track from British progressive rock band Pink Floyd's 1973 album, ''The Dark Side of the Moon''. It is an instrumental piece performed on an EMS synthesizer ( Synthi AKS). It deals with the pressures of travel, specifically air travel, which according to Richard Wright, would often bring fear of death. Composition This piece was created by entering an 8-note sequence into a Synthi AKS synthesiser made by the British synthesiser manufacturer EMS and speeding it up, with an added white noise generator creating the hi-hat sound. The band then added backwards guitar parts, created by dragging a microphone stand down the fretboard, reversing the tape, and panning left to right. There are also other Synthi and VCS 3 synthesizer parts, made to sound like a vehicle passing, giving a Doppler effect.
