''Knights of the Queen'' (Italian:''I cavalieri della regina'') is a 1954 Italian-American swashbuckler based on ''The Three Musketeers'' starring Sebastian Cabot. It was shot in Europe. It later led to a TV series, ''The Queen's Musketeers'' or ''The Three Musketeers''. The series debuted in the US in 1956. The film and some episodes of the TV series were directed by Nathan Juran and Mauro Bolognini. Other episodes were directed by Hugo Fregonese, Frank McDonald and Joseph Lerner. ''The Three Musketeers'' (french: Les Trois Mousquetaires, links=no, ) is a French historical adventure novel written in 1844 by French author Alexandre Dumas. It is in the swashbuckler genre, which has heroic, chivalrous swordsmen who fight for justice. Set between 1625 and 1628, it recounts the adventures of a young man named d'Artagnan (a character based on Charles de Batz de Castelmore d'Artagnan, Charles de Batz-Castelmore d'Artagnan) after he leaves home to travel to Paris, hoping to join the Musketeers of the Guard. Charles Sebastian Thomas Cabot (6 July 1918 – 23 August 1977) was a British actor.
