I Don't Wanna Leave (Lidia Kopania Song)
Poland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 with the song "I Don't Wanna Leave" written by Alex Geringos and Bernd Klimpel. The song was performed by Lidia Kopania. The Polish broadcaster Telewizja Polska (TVP) organised the national final ''Piosenka dla Europy 2009'' in order to select the Polish entry for the 2009 contest in Moscow, Russia. The national final took place on 14 February 2009 and featured ten entries. "I Don't Wanna Leave" performed by Lidia Kopania was selected as the winner after gaining the most points following the combination of votes from a four-member jury panel and a public vote. Poland was drawn to compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 14 May 2009. Lidia Kopania
Lidia Kopania-Przebindowska (born 12 May 1978, Koluszki, Poland) is the frontwoman of the musical group Kind of Blue. Kopania had previously represented Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009, held in Moscow, Russia. Biography In 2003, Kopania has established cooperation with a band Kind of Blue. Their first joint album, entitled ''Beating The Morning Rush'' appeared in Germany at the end of 2004. Participated in the German music program ''The John Lennon Talent Award''. In Poland, the first single of Kopania's band was a song "Pocałuj mnie". In 2006 she released the album ''Intuicja'', which included 16 pop songs in English and four in Polish. With this release came a CD single "It Must Be Love", which had been submitted for consideration to represent Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007. TVP1 (TVP Jeden, ''Program I Telewizji Polskiej'', ''"Jedynka"'') is the main public television channel of TVP (Telewizja Polska S.A.), Poland's national television broadcaster. It was the first Polish channel to be broadcast and remains one of the most popular today. TVP1 was launched 25 October 1952. History TVP1 was launched as of 25 October 1952 as TV Polska. The tests resumed in the immediate post-war years and materialized in October 1952 with the launch of the first experimental broadcasts of Polish television. In January 1953, it broadcasts at the rate of half an hour per week, then an hour and a half in March. The schedule of programmes continued to grow and the broadcast time increased to 22 hours per week in 1957, 26 hours in 1958. Regional studios were added to those in Szczecin and Warsaw in 1956. Aleksandra "Ola" Szwed (born 8 August 1990 in Warsaw, Poland) is a Polish actress and singer of Polish and Nigerian ethnicity. She was a popular child actress, starring regularly since 1999 in ''Rodzina zastępcza'' (''Foster Family'') television series, modified and renamed in 2004 to ''Rodzina zastępcza plus'' (''Foster Family and Others''). She also stars on TV talent shows. Before getting into television, she sang and danced in a children group backing the singer Majka Jeżowska. Artur Gadowski (born 1 June 1967) is a Polish musician, vocalist of a rock band IRA. Biography Gadowski comes from a musical family. His father played the saxophone whereas his mother was a vocal instructor. His life's turning point happened in 1979 when he first heard The Beatles' album titled '' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'', which formed his musical style for a long time afterwards. Beginnings and career with IRA In 1985, he established his first amateur music band together with his schoolmates, ''Kurcze blade'', dissolved after merely a year. Then in 1986 he co-founded another band, ''Landrynki dla dziewczynki'', in which Gadowski initially played the guitar but he later replaced the vocalist of the group who had been called up. Ira (Polish Band)
IRA is a Polish rock band formed in 1987 in Radom by Jakub Płucisz (guitar), Wojciech Owczarek (drums), Artur Gadowski (vocal, guitar), Dariusz Grudzień (bass) and Grzegorz Wawrzeńczuk (keyboards). They gained wide popularity in Poland in the early nineties, mainly after releasing the "Mój Dom" album, with the hit title song, which dates back to their garage and semi-professional days. They also gained some local popularity amongst Polish-speaking citizens in the United States, where they lived and worked for few months. After signing a professional contract back in Poland, they released a few albums which did not prove to be commercially successful (except for the "Mój Dom" follow-up, which was "IRA 1993"), and the band disbanded afterwards. Poland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 1999. The Polish broadcaster Telewizja Polska (TVP) selected country's entry via an internal selection. Mietek Szcześniak was ultimately selected to represent Poland at the 1999 contest in Jerusalem, Israel with the song "Przytul mnie mocno" written by Seweryn Krajewski and Wojciech Ziembicki. The National Festival of Polish Song in Opole ( pl, Krajowy Festiwal Piosenki Polskiej w Opolu, KFPP) is an annual music festival in Opole, Poland. Together with the Sopot Festival it is one of the two most important music festivals in Poland. OGAE
The (OGAE) () is a non-governmental and non-profit international organisation, consisting of 42 Eurovision Song Contest fan clubs from across Europe and beyond. It was founded in 1984 in Savonlinna, Finland by Jaripekka Koikkalainen. Four non-profit competitions are organised by the OGAE every year to promote national popular music to Eurovision fans around the world.
