The IWA Puerto Rico Heavyweight Championship ("''Campeonato de Puerto Rico Peso Completo de la IWA"'' in Spanish), was a secondary championship defended in the International Wrestling Association of Puerto Rico (IWA-PR). History Championship was announced on June 16, 2008 via IWA's website then on IWA's TV Show ''Impacto Total''. The title was shown to the public on June 28, 2008 by IWA's Promoter Edwin Vázquez Ortega at Yabucoa, Puerto Rico then it was announced that the inaugural champion was going to be decided in a Tournament. The inaugural tournament took place at three dates: On July 5, 2008 at San Juan, Puerto Rico then On July 12, 2008 at Bayamón, Puerto Rico and the final on the Summer Attitude live event on July 19, 2008 at Bayamon, Puerto Rico. International Wrestling Association (Puerto Rico)
The International Wrestling Association is a conglomerate of professional wrestling promotions that originated in Puerto Rico and currently operates there and in the state of Florida. Founded in 1999 by promoter Víctor Quiñones (who had also created the unrelated IWA-Japan in 1994) as a novel promotion, it quickly entered an agreement to serve as a development territory for the World Wrestling Federation (now known as WWE) that lasted until 2001. IWA Caribbean Heavyweight Championship
The IWA Puerto Rico/Caribbean Heavyweight Championship (''Campeonato Peso Pesado del Caribe/Caribeño de la IWA'' in Spanish) is a regional championship originally defended in the International Wrestling Association of Puerto Rico (IWA-PR), where it was a mid-tier title. For some time it was unified with another secondary accolade, the IWA Puerto Rico Heavyweight Championship. It was later reintroduced as a stand-alone title and deactivated when the promotion entered seven years of inactivity, but was not among the lineup when IWA-PR resumed its shows. In 2019, the belt was revived and introduced to Major League Wrestling (MLW), as Savio Vega was announced as the “Caribbean Heavyweight Champion” upon making his debut. Levittown, Puerto Rico
Levittown, a community in the San Juan MSA and part of the municipality of Toa Baja, is one of the largest planned communities in Puerto Rico. Per the 2020 census, the population was 25,591. Carlos Omar Cotto Cruz (born February 13, 1980) is a Puerto Rican professional wrestler and boxer. As a wrestler, he perform under the alias of El Chicano and has performed mostly for the International Wrestling Association and the World Wrestling Council.
