''III'' is the third studio album by American black metal band Bosse-de-Nage, released on June 26, 2012. It is the band's first album on Profound Lore Records. The album features a cross between black metal and math rock styles, with elements from various genres such as shoegaze, post-hardcore, screamo, and indie rock. The album's sound was also compared to various music acts such as Slint, Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Deathspell Omega and Blut Aus Nord. Critical reception The album generally received positive reviews from music critics. Pitchfork critic Kim Kelly described the record as "an intense listen, and a wholly cathartic one as well," and further explained: "There are plenty of moments of outright aggression, bleak, harrowing passages of unrelenting blasts, narrated by a chaotic, urgent voice that veers between angry wails and sparse, Slint-like sotto voce intonations depending on the lyrical bent." Bosse-de-Nage is an American band from San Francisco, California, United States, composed of four anonymous members. Considered as a part of the blackgaze scene, the band performs an experimental music, experimental black metal style that draws from post-rock, shoegazing, shoegaze, post-hardcore, screamo, and indie rock, with influences from Slint, Mogwai (band), Mogwai, and Godspeed You! Black Emperor. AllMusic critic Gregory Heaney wrote that the band "crafts a sound that's as comfortable expanding outward as it is contracting into a suffocating mass of needling guitars and frantic drumming." The band's lyrics touch upon various subjects, such as sex, filth, bodies, perversion, and death. Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Godspeed You! Black Emperor (sometimes abbreviated to GY!BE or Godspeed) is a Canadian post-rock band which originated in Montreal, Quebec in 1994. The group releases recordings through Constellation, an independent record label also located in Montreal. After the release of their debut album in 1997, the group toured regularly from 1998 to 2003. Their second album, 2000's ''Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven'', received critical acclaim and has been named as one of the best albums of the decade. In 2003, the band announced an indefinite hiatus in order for members to pursue other musical interests. In the intervening period, the group was occasionally rumored to have broken up, but finally reconvened for a tour which began in late 2010. A Venn diagram is a widely used diagram style that shows the logical relation between set (mathematics), sets, popularized by John Venn (1834–1923) in the 1880s. The diagrams are used to teach elementary set theory, and to illustrate simple set relationships in probability, logic, statistics, linguistics and computer science. History Vindsval began a solo project, under the name "Vlad", in 1993. Deathspell Omega is a French black metal band formed in 1998 in Poitiers. Their lyrical content deals primarily with Satanism on a metaphysical level – as the band has stated that "all other interpretations of Satan are intellectually invalid" – and other various theological topics. They have also released a trilogy of concept albums which focus on the theological aspects of God, Satan and man's relationship with the two. They released their sixth album, ''The Synarchy of Molten Bones'', on 8 November 2016 and their seventh, ''The Furnaces of Palingenesia'', on 24 May 2019; the last of these reflects a shift in lyrical focus to anti-authoritarian political themes.
