IHF Badge Of Merit
The IHF Badge of Merit is awarded by International Handball Federation to individuals who made an extraordinary contribution to the development of handball. Levels The Badge of Merit is awarded at three levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. IHF Gold Badge of Merit The Badge of Merit in Gold is awarded to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution and/or given many years’ service to the sport of handball within the IHF. It therefore recognises, in particular, many years’ successful work within an IHF organ and/or a creative impetus for the development of handball. The Badge of Merit consists of the Council’s insignia with half garland in gold. It is awarded by the IHF Council at the recommendation of the IHF Executive Committee, of the continental federations or of the member federations. International Handball Federation
The International Handball Federation (IHF) is the administrative and controlling body for handball and beach handball. IHF is responsible for the organisation of handball's major international tournaments, notably the IHF World Men's Handball Championship, which commenced in 1938, and the IHF World Women's Handball Championship, which commenced in 1957. IHF was founded in 1946 to oversee international competitions. Headquartered in Basel, its membership now comprises 209 national federations. Each member country must each also be a member of one of the six regional confederations: Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and Caribbean, Oceania, and South and Central America. Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah
Sheikh Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah (10 August 1945 – 2 August 1990) ( ar, الشيخ فهد الأحمد الجابر الصباح ) was a member of the House of Sabah and a Kuwaiti military officer who was also the founder of the Asian Handball Federation and Kuwait Olympic Committee. Fahad was killed fighting alongside the Kuwait Emiri Guard in defending Dasman Palace. Early life Fahad was the son of Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and was educated in Kuwait for his primary and secondary schooling. Military career Fahad was commissioned in the Kuwait Armed Forces on April 22, 1963 as an Aspirant. He pursued further military training in a military institution in the United Kingdom on July 30, 1964. Russia Men's National Handball Team
The Russia national handball team (russian: Сборная России по гандболу) is controlled by the Handball Federation of Russia. Russia is designated by IHF and EHF. Vladimir Salmanovich Maksimov (russian: link=no, Владимир Салманович Максимов; born October 14, 1945 in Kant, Kirghiz SSR) is a Soviet/Russian handball player. After his retirement as a player, he was a coach for the Russian national team, with which he won all three major titles in handball (European champion in 1996, world champion twice in 1993 and 1997 and Olympic champion in 2000). Cristian Gațu
Cristian Gațu (born 20 August 1945) is a retired Romanian handball player. He earned 212 caps with the national team, winning the world title in 1970 and 1974 and medalling at the 1972 and 1976 Olympics. After retiring from competitions he became a coach and sports official, appointed as Secretary of State for Youth and Sports in 1991–1993 and President of the Romanian Handball Federation in 1997–2014. Biography Gațu was an ethnic Aromanian. He was born to a renowned sports journalist Petre Gațu. In his early years he studied civil engineering in Bucharest and competed nationally in chess, association football and handball, eventually choosing handball for his career.
