I'm Your Baby Tonight
''I'm Your Baby Tonight'' is the third studio album by American singer Whitney Houston. It was released on November 6, 1990, by Arista Records. The album was a response to music critics in the black music community, who accused Houston of neglecting her R&B and soul music roots following the release of the pop-heavy sound of her eponymous sophomore album, '' Whitney'' three years before. The album also signaled a change in Houston's musical direction as she attained creative control for the first time in her career and became the first album where she attained executive producer credits. The record incorporated the then-current popular sound of new jack swing music while keeping an R&B sound on the majority of the tracks, along with elements of hip-hop, funk and dance music which helped to shift Houston's focus from love ballads and occasional dance songs to creating a "firmer dance record". The album was further credited later as a "turning point" in Houston's career and which ...

We Didn't Know
"We Didn't Know" is a mid-tempo duet by American recording artists Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder, and was released as the sixth and final single from Houston's third album '' I'm Your Baby Tonight'' (1990). The single was released on April 14, 1992 by Arista Records. Wonder wrote and produced the song. The single peaked at number 20 on ''Billboard'''s R&B Singles chart. There was no music video made for the song. This is the first and only single from the album that was issued without a music video. The song is about two good friends that realize they have romantic feelings for each other and are more than just friends — they love each other, and they "didn't know." Houston and Wonder performed the song on an episode of '' The Arsenio Hall Show'' in December 1990. Arista Records stopped working the album's singles to top 40 after " My Name Is Not Susan" became her first solo single to not reach the top ten. The duet was thus never sent to pop radio. I'm Your Baby Tonight (song)
"I'm Your Baby Tonight" is a song by American singer Whitney Houston from her third studio album of the same name (1990). Written and produced by L.A. Reid and Babyface, in Australia and most European countries it was released as the album's lead single by Arista Records on September 28, 1990; in the United States, the release date was October 2. Following the release of her second studio album '' Whitney'' (1987), Houston became the first woman ever to debut atop the ''Billboard'' 200; despite this, critics deemed it safe and formulaic. Additionally, she was booed at the 1989 Soul Train Music Awards and accused of being "not black enough"; Houston decided she needed to change her sound if she wanted to recapture black audiences. For ''I'm Your Baby Tonight'', Houston chose to work with Reid and Babyface, who had previously produced her then-boyfriend Bobby Brown's 1988 album ''Don't Be Cruel''. The title-track was the last song recorded for the album and marked a departure f ...
