"I'm in the Mood" is a song by American singer and songwriter CeCe Peniston, released in December 1993 as the first commercial single from her second studio album, '' Thought 'Ya Knew'' (1994). The composition scored the singer her fourth number one on the US ''Billboard'' Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, and also entered the top 10 of the ''Billboard'' Hot R&B chart, peaking at number seven. On the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, the song peaked at number 32 and made number 16 on the UK Top 75. In a 2011 interview for ''Boy Culture'', TypePad's blogging service, Peniston disclosed that she had actually expected a better reception of the single. In the early 1990s, she scored five number one hits on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot Dance Music/Club Play. The ''Billboard'' Hot 100 is the music industry standard record chart in the United States for songs, published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), radio play, and online streaming in the United States. The weekly tracking period for sales was initially Monday to Sunday when Nielsen started tracking sales in 1991, but was changed to Friday to Thursday in July 2015. This tracking period also applies to compiling online streaming data. "Finally" is the 1991 debut single by American singer and songwriter CeCe Peniston from her debut album, ''Finally'' (1992). It became Peniston's first (and biggest) hit song, peaking at number five on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in January 1992 and becoming her only US top-ten hit to date. The ''Gavin Report'' was a San Francisco-based radio industry trade publication. The publication was founded by radio performer Bill Gavin in 1958. Its Top 40 listings were used for many years by programmers to decide content of programs. The publication was also responsible for running the Gavin Seminar, a convention for radio industry members. In February 2002, United Business Media, who had owned the Gavin Report since 1992, decided to close the publication. Chorus Effect
Chorus (or chorusing, choruser or chorused effect) is an audio effect that occurs when individual sounds with approximately the same time, and very similar pitches, converge. While similar sounds coming from multiple sources can occur naturally, as in the case of a choir or string orchestra, it can also be simulated using an electronic effects unit or signal processing device. When the effect is produced successfully, none of the constituent sounds are perceived as being out of tune. It is characteristic of sounds with a rich, shimmering quality that would be absent if the sound came from a single source. The shimmer occurs because of beating. New jack swing, new jack, or swingbeat is a fusion genre of the rhythms and production techniques of hip hop and dance-pop, and the urban contemporary sound of R&B. Spearheaded by producers Teddy Riley and Bernard Belle, new jack swing was most popular from the late-1980s to early-1990s. Its influence, along with hip hop, seeped into pop culture. Merriam-Webster's online dictionary defines new jack swing as "pop music usually performed by black musicians that combines elements of jazz, funk, rap, and rhythm and blues." New jack swing took up the trend of using sampled beats and tunes, and created beats using electronic drum machines such as the then-new SP-1200 sampler and the Roland TR-808 to lay an "insistent beat under light melody lines and clearly enunciated vocals."
