I.aM.mE
I.aM.mE (which stands for inspire, motivate, and energize) is an American hip-hop dance crew from Houston, Texas. The group rose to prominence after being crowned champions in the sixth season of '' America's Best Dance Crew''. The three founding members, Phillip Chbeeb, Di Moon Zhang and Brandon Harrell, formed I.aM.mE after Marvelous Motion Crew disbanded. Three additional members, Chachi Gonzales, Emilio Dosal, and Džajna "jaja" Vaňková, joined later after an audition. The new and present roster of I.aM.mE includes members of dance crews who have competed in past seasons of ''ABDC'', Tamara "Tam" Rapp (from 8 Flavahz, season 7), Jean "B-Boy Bebo" Lloret (from Phunk Phenomenon, season 6), Scarlett Nabil (from Funkdation, season 7), and sole newcomer to the show, Liza Riabinina. America's Best Dance Crew (season 6)
The sixth season of '' America's Best Dance Crew'', also known as ''America's Best Dance Crew: Season of the Superstars'', premiered on April 7, 2011. Taking a different route from past seasons, the crews performed to the music of one specific artist each week, including Rihanna, Lil Wayne, and other stars. The season also featured special guest appearances by various music celebrities including Justin Bieber, The Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry, Kesha, Nicki Minaj, and Kanye West. Dominic "D-Trix" Sandoval, a former member of Quest Crew, the winner of the third season of ''America's Best Dance Crew'', joined returning judges Lil Mama and JC Chasez as the newest judge. Chachi Gonzales
Olivia "Chachi" Hildén (née Gonzales) is an American dancer, choreographer and actress. She was a member of the dance crew I.aM.mE, which won the sixth season of ''America's Best Dance Crew'' in 2011. Life and career Hildén was born Olivia Gonzales in Houston, Texas. At the age of 6, Gonzales enrolled at a local dance studio and was trained as a ballet dancer. Three years later at a dance event she attended, Gonzales witnessed a hip hop dance crew for the first time. One of the crews there was Marvelous Motion, whose members (Phillip Chbeeb, Di Zhang and Brandon Harrell) would later become her fellow crew members in I.aM.mE. Gonzales became immediately intrigued and decided to participate in hip hop from then on. She enrolled at Lanier Middle School where hip hop was one of the dance styles taught. Hip-hop Dance
Hip hop dance is a range of street dance styles primarily performed to hip hop music or that have evolved as part of hip hop culture. It is influenced by a wide range of styles that were created in the 1970s and made popular by dance crews in the United States. The television show ''Soul Train'' and the 1980s films '' Breakin''', '' Beat Street'', and ''Wild Style'' showcased these crews and dance styles in their early stages; therefore, giving hip-hop dance mainstream exposure. The dance industry responded with a commercial, studio-based version of hip-hop—sometimes called "new style"—and a hip-hop influenced style of jazz dance called "jazz-funk". ''America's Best Dance Crew'', often abbreviated as ''ABDC'', was an American competitive dance reality television series that features both national and international dance crews. The show was produced by singer, record producer, and former ''American Idol'' judge Randy Jackson. The series premiered on February 7, 2008, on MTV. It was originally developed for NBC as ''World Moves''. The show was hosted by actor Mario Lopez, and featured television personality Layla Kayleigh as the backstage correspondent.
