I.M (song)
"I.M" is a song by Israeli singer Michael Ben David. The song represented Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 after winning ''The X Factor Israel'', Israel's national final. A revamped version of the song was released on 14 March 2022. Background "I.M" is inspired by Ben David's childhood and carries a message of having inner strength with the empowering lyrics in the song. As a child Ben David suffered bullying for singing in a high-pitched voice and had a tumultuous relationship with his mother for being gay. His stepfather told him not to tease, not to speak loudly and not to sing as according to his stepfather "that's how girls behave". Eventually Ben David gave his mother an ultimatum, saying that he would not come to any family gatherings if his partner could not come. Michael Ben David (, ; born 26 July 1996) is an Israelis, Israeli singer who represented in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. He performed the song "I.M (song), I.M" in the second semifinal. Israel placed 13th in the semi final failing to qualify to the grand Final. Life and career Ben David was born in 1996 as the second of six siblings, to a Georgian Jews in Israel, Georgian Jewish father and mother who immigrated to Israel from Kyiv, Ukraine. He started taking voice lessons and studying dance under Israeli choreographer Oz Morag at a young age. He also worked as a singing waiter at a Tel Aviv bar. Israel participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy with the entry "I.M" performed by Michael Ben David.
