I-League 2nd Division 2010
The 2010 I-League 2nd division was the third season of the second tier of the I-League, the highest football league in India. It commenced on 26 March 2010 with the first matches of the first round and ended in early May 2010 with the last matches of the promotion round. All matches are played in three venues at Delhi, Bangalore and Tripura. Team summaries The first round was competed by 21 teams, which have been divided into three groups with seven teams each. I-League 2nd Division
I-League 2, previously known as I-League 2nd Division and officially known as or Hero I-League 2 (for sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp), is an Indian men's professional football league. It is the 3rd tier of Indian football, behind Indian Super League and I-League. It operates as a system of promotion with I-League (final qualifying phase of state leagues teams). In 2020, due to COVID-19 pandemic in India, the league format was changed into I-League Qualifiers. To avoid confusion with I-League being the second tier, the league was renamed to I-League 2 by AIFF in 2022. The 2nd Division league was introduced from the 2008 season, having been previously known as the National Football League 2nd Division. State FA's nominate teams who have finished at the top of their respective state leagues (or passing the required criteria). Gauhati Town Club
Gauhati Town Club is an Indian multi sports club based in Guwahati, Assam. Founded in 1906, the club had participated in the I-League 2nd Division, then second highest level football in India, for two seasons. It currently plays in the GSA Super Division Football League and Youth League. The Gauhati Town Club Football Academy was set up to identify, train and nurture the local talents of northeast India at grassroots level. It has highly equipped infrastructure. Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Football Club, also known as ONGC FC, was an Indian professional football club from Mumbai in Maharashtra, India. The club was affiliated with the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation. It has competed in the National Football League (India), later I-League, alongside the MDFA Elite League. History 2006–2010: I-League 2nd Division In 2006, the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation revived its football section and renamed it as ''ONGC F.C.'', in hope of expanding their involvement in Indian football, which included title sponsoring the old National Football League, Durand Cup and Nehru Cup. Duliajan is an Industrial city, industrial town of Dibrugarh district in the Indian state of Assam located in the upper north-east corner of India. Oil India Football Club is an Indian professional football club from Duliajan in Assam. The club was founded by Oil India in 1964. It also participated in I-League 2nd Division, then second tier football tournament of Indian football league system, for three seasons. Oil India FC was nominated by Assam Football Association for the 2021 I-League Qualifiers but didn't make it to the final list approved by the AIFF.
