I'm Still Alive (film)
''I'm Still Alive'' is a 1940 American drama film directed by Irving Reis and written by Edmund H. North. The film stars Kent Taylor, Linda Hayes, Howard Da Silva, Ralph Morgan and Don Dillaway. The film was released on September 20, 1940, by RKO Pictures. Plot A spat on a Hollywood set between stuntman Steve Bennett and actress Laura Marley leads to the two of them falling in love and being married. Steve's work is dangerous and Laura persuades him to quit, but he has difficulty finding a different occupation. When youthful former colleague Tommy Briggs has a complicated stunt to do, Steve volunteers to take his place, then after being rejected by producer Walter Blake is devastated when Tommy is killed. Steve leaves to become a barnstorming pilot. Blake schemes to lure Steve back for Laura's sake by inventing a romance between her and stuntman Red Garvey. Irving Reis
Irving Reis (May 7, 1906 in New York City – July 3, 1953 in Woodland Hills, California) was a radio program producer and director, and a film director. Biography Irving Reis was born into a Jewish family.http://www.hillsidememorial.org/pdfs/DistResBook_webversion3.pdf Reis began his career as a motion picture photographer. The most notable of his screen efforts was being one of the photographers for ''The Hollywood Revue of 1929''. A 1931 notice in ''Variety'' declared that he was transitioning into a playwright. By 1933, ''Variety'' took notice of his radio play ''St. Louis Blues''. His radio play ''Meridian 7-1212'' first broadcast on January 24, 1935, received an "above par" comment from Variety. Observing that he wrote and produced the play, the unnamed reviewer noted the numerous radio effects, and that compared to his two previous radio plays, this was the best. Skippy (also known as Asta, 1931–1951) was a Wire Fox Terrier dog actor who appeared in dozens of movies during the 1930s. Skippy is best known for the role of the pet dog "Asta" in the 1934 detective comedy ''The Thin Man'', starring William Powell and Myrna Loy, and for his role in the 1938 comedy ''Bringing Up Baby'', starring Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant. Due to the popularity of ''The Thin Man'' role, Skippy is sometimes credited as Asta in public and in other films. Fred Niblo (born Frederick Liedtke; January 6, 1874 – November 11, 1948) was an American pioneer film actor, director and producer. Biography He was born Frederick Liedtke (several sources give "Frederico Nobile", apparently erroneously) in York, Nebraska to a French mother and a father who had served as a captain in the American Civil War and was wounded at the Battle of Gettysburg. Using the stage name Fred Niblo, Liedtke began his show business career performing in vaudeville and in live theater. After more than 20 years doing live performing as a monologist, during which he traveled extensively around the globe, he worked in Australia from 1912 through 1915, where he turned to the burgeoning motion picture industry and made his first two films.
