Hüsnü Şenlendirici
Hüsnü Şenlendirici (born 12 July 1976 in Bergama, Turkey) is a Turkish musician of Romani people in Turkey, Romani Background. He comes from a family of musicians: his grandfather Hüsnü Şenlendirici played clarinet and trumpet, his other grandfather Otmar Köfteci used to play clarinet, and his father Ergün Şenlendirici played trumpet. Life and work In 1988 Hüsnü Şenlendirici studied at the State Conservatory of Turkish Music of the Technical University of Istanbul, Istanbul Technical University which he left in 1992 without a degree. He played in the "magnetic tape" with the percussionist Okay Temiz and performed at hundreds of festivals in Turkey. He also was a member of the band "Laço" with his father Ergün Senlendirici. Okay Temiz
Okay Temiz (born 11 February 1939, Istanbul, Turkey) is a Turkish fusion jazz percussionist and drummer. Biography Temiz was influenced in his early years by his mother, Naciye, who was classically schooled in music. Temiz started playing professionally in 1955, studying at the Ankara Conservatory and at the Tophane Art Institute. After meeting Maffy Falay and Don Cherry, he settled in Sweden. With Cherry and bassist Johnny Dyani he toured US and Europe in 1971. In 1972, he founded the band Xaba with Dyani and trumpeter Mongezi Feza. His drums are of his own invention, and are constructed using hand-beaten copper, in the style of Turkish debuka's. Dhafer Youssef ( ar, ظافر يوسف; born 19 November 1967) is a Tunisian composer, singer and oud player. Biography Dhafer Youssef was born in Téboulba (a small village of coastal Tunisia); his grandfather was a muezzin. He calls the radio "the most important school" for him. He developed an interest in jazz at an early age and clandestinely listened to it during his education at a Qur'anic school. He later left Tunisia to start a jazz career and has lived in Europe since 1990, usually in Paris or Vienna. He also works in avant-garde and world music where he has been nominated for awards. Brooklyn Funk Essentials
Brooklyn Funk Essentials is a music collective who mix jazz, funk, and hip hop, featuring musicians and poets from different cultures. The band was conceived in 1993 by producer Arthur Baker and bassist and musical director Lati Kronlund. In the mid-1990s, the group became a staple of the New York City club scene. Their debut album ''Cool and Steady and Easy'' (1995) scored an underground hit with the rendition of Pharoah Sanders' "The Creator Has a Master Plan".
