Hüseyin Sayram
Hüseyin Sayram (b. 1905 - d 23 December 1988) Turkish politician, provincial chief of the CHP (Republican People's Party). He was the second of the three sons of the Turkish theologian Hacı Zühtü Efendi. He also had a younger and an older sister. Hüseyin Sayram was the starter and patriarch of Sayram family line. Hüseyin was born into a family of a long line of Muslim theologians. He had a fierce positivist intellect and with an ear for music. He was also an accomplished athlete, a sprinter. Hüseyin Sayram was born around 1905 in Kayseri, Turkey. A market city of merchants. He embraced the modernization efforts introduced by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk with enthusiasm and joined the CHP. Halkevi
Halkevleri (Turkish: ''Halkevi'' literally meaning "people's houses", also translatable as "community centres") is the name of a Turkish community enlightenment project. They were founded in 1932 and entirely abolished in 1951. Background The Turkish Republic was proclaimed in 1923 after a series of costly wars involving the Ottoman Empire. The human loss was great, especially among the intellectuals. Also, the most profitable agricultural land had been lost, and the country was economically bankrupt. After the republic was proclaimed, measures were taken to raise the low literacy rate and to improve the economy. However, the great depression was another blow to the new republic. A second problem of the new republic was the reaction of the conservatives against the reforms, especially the secularist practices of the republic. The Populist Party ( tr, Halkçı Parti, HP) was a political party in Turkey which was active between 1983 and 1985. Background After the coup of 1980, all political parties were dissolved by the military government (ruling through the National Security Council or tr, MGK) regardless of their political views, on 16 October 1981. In 1983, the MGK decided to allow the formation of new parties with severe restrictions. The new parties were not allowed to use the names of former parties and former politicians were not allowed to be charter member of the new parties. Formation One of the parties banned by MGK was the Republican People's Party ( tr, CHP), the oldest party in Turkey. Supporters of the CHP including Avni Güler, Engin Aydın and Turhan Timuçin founded the People's Party as an intended successor to the CHP on 21 May 1983. Turhan Feyzioğlu (1922 – 24 March 1988) was a Turkish academic and a politician. Early life He was born in Kayseri. After finishing the primary school in Kayseri, he studied in Galatasaray High School and in Law school of Istanbul University. After post graduate studies in United Kingdom, he returned to Turkey and became a professor of Ankara University. In 1955, he was elected as the dean of Political Sciences School in Ankara University. He also began writing in the bulletin of his school. His articles however irritated the Democrat Party government and he had to resign.
